My very first "mod" was a radar detector.
Almost all cops use LIDAR nowadays (laser) so you get shot once doing an unacceptably speed and it’s all over. A Radar Detector will do you no good.

There are VERY expensive systems that claim to jam LIDAR (sends a confusing signal back); unknown if those are really effective or not.

Jammers also illegal, and you don't want to get caught with one in your car either. There are some LIDAR detectors, but they're supposed to be quite finicky to work with.

Not sure where you got that from. In my area, no. Hell, they rarely use Ka band.

Depends on your state. Here, laser jammers are perfectly legal.

Driving n the deep south (GA, NC, SC, MS) I have an [unspecified] number of speeding tickets over the last 10 years, and only 2 were NOT LIDAR. One was pacing, one was radar.

I've owned 2008 Civic Si, 2011 Civic Si, 2014 Civic Si, 2018 Civic Si, and 2019 Type R. Every model I've owned there were countless people complaining of grinding gears and not one of mine have ever ground.

If your car doesn't grind, it means you know how to drive it.

I am glad that you have never had a gear grind.

However, to say that one does not know how to drive, is rather..... naive I would say. Make no mistake, I am sure -sometimes- it is the driver, however, there are well documented cases of 2nd and 4th lockouts. I have also had issues putting it into 5th gear and it grinds (High pitch Grind) and without a shadow of a doubt my clutch pedal is all the way to the floor. The first time it happened I thought it was me. The next 3 times it has happened it was not me. Also it has ALWAYS been under a spirited acceleration on an on ramp.

We respect your opinion though :)

Yes Radar Jammers are completely Illegal, however, Laser Jammers are not.

I have read that some radar detectors do a great job of jamming laser at a distance, but it is key to slow down after it is detected and TURN OFF the laser jammer after you slow down.

I personally am debating getting a laser detector but I do not want to clutter my front windshield, I also have 80% Ceramic tint (Suntek) on my windshield so a suction cup could ruin that. I have seen some mirror attachments though..

Speaking for everyone, I see.

I can make the car grind if I treat it like a UPS truck. The transmission has subtle characteristics that you have to work around, like any car. If you recognize those and accommodate them, you can drive like a rock star, nobody will notice the difference, and you won't grind the transmission. If you drive with ham fists around the shifter and ram it around, it will obviously grind. This car is not made to be driven like a Mustang is. It requires a rather delicate style of driving, but it's robust if you drive it that way. I drive mine pretty hard and it seems to be built well for it.

I am glad you realized you are speaking for everyone in your previous comments. It's all about personal growth and awareness. Kudos to you!

With that being said your comments above are true. One does need to learn the nuances of a different transmission, however, if the transmission -completely locks you out- that is not "recognizing subtle characteristics" That is simply a defect in manufacturing. To assume one has gear "crunches" because one is "ham fisting" it into gear is naive.

Now speaking about myself,

98% of the time I experience absolutely NO issues the other 2% of the time I absolutely experience issues. Now it is important to keep sample size into consideration here. I live in Miami Florida. Traffic here is insane so I naturally get to shift the transmission far more than someone who lives in Lexington Kentucky (I have been there before) If I am cruising in 1st gear going 15 MPH and I shift up to 2nd gear I should NOT be locked out of second gear with the clutch pedal completely depressed. That is just insane.

The same for 4th gear if I am doing 45 and I am shifting up from 3rd to 4th. This has nothing to do with one knowing how to drive a manual transmission. This is simply a manufacturer's defect.

There are also gear crunches when engaging into 2nd, and my 5th gear grinds should not happen when having a spirited acceleration onto an on ramp. It is almost like there's a sensor somewhere reading something incorrectly and not fully recognizing the clutch pedal is fully depressed.

With that being said, am I 100% perfect with driving a Manual Transmission? I'll let my passengers decide.

I don't speak for others. It's funny you do and bother telling me about personal growth and awareness. Get a grip on yourself.

When I tell you that you obviously are a crappy driver, I'm speaking for myself.

It honestly looks like I hit a soft spot with you. It also seems you have no emotional intelligence and it is clearly showing. Such a fun poll that you should never have been a part of.

You -assume- I am speaking for anyone. I simply stated there are -well documented- cases (if I recall the thread is over 90 pages long here) about the lockouts and people have had their transmissions replaced under warranty. Yet... Here I am speaking for everyone. Bravo on showing me how sensitive you truly are :)

Edit:

You also stated that if someone experiences crunching or gear lock outs they don't know how to drive. That my friend, is speaking for everyone. But hey, keep on drinking the cool-aid champ!

Hook, line, and sinker.

Practice what you preach otherwise don't call out others on it.
I am laughing my ass off at your reply, absolutely legendary
