FRP is only like 1500. It's about 500 more than seibon so it's not that much more and probably does much more to aid in cooling than the seibon. The carbon on the other hand is quite expensive...
I'm not including the cost for paint because no matter what hood i get, it'd be getting painted.

I already have a deposit on a few items that hasn't gotten here ... idk if i want another one LOL.
This car is a $$ pit! I've just completed my van built and I'm dumping $$$ into my R again! Here I am trying to save up for a full motor racing simulator :banghead:

I’ve seen the hood. And I can’t stomach the price. Especially if there was any imperfections. And there is always something small.

I like some of you would paint probably 90% of the surface area.

Having said that, I don’t think the contours of the hood extract heat any better than getting another color matched hood and making cut outs.

I think for what your paying with the Varis is the design (not necessarily improved function over modifying), carbon, name (JDM factor) and just a tad bit more QA (but I don’t think thaaat much, since it’s coming over by boat and who knows what damage it’s going to see by the time it gets to you).

The fact that you have to change the hood to help with cooking speaks to the fact that the issue is not the good, or grille - the issue is Honda and until lawyers don’t get involved, they won’t do shit.

You buy a $35k car or $45k for some people, and you still need to dump $4k or $2k on a hood, or grille because the car can’t cool fast enough in hot laps. That’s not the way to solve the issue but to each their own.

i believe so also. I just don't really like how the hood looks with those like race vents and stuff. It's not a full blown track car so i still kind of want the car to look like how i like it.

There is only one other hood that i like and he custom made it by molding the nsx hood vent onto the seibon hood (i think) and i remember him saying it was basically close to the cost of varis.

This is overly dramatic.

Running a new $250 grill helps with cooling enough to do hot laps in the high 80s to low 90s. Add in an oil cooler and you can be out there even longer on those 90 degree days.

99% of the people who buy the Type-R are not tracking it.

It takes a lot to make a high boost turbo car last on a track.

save yourself a ton with a simple weather strip removal at the rear to reduce engine bay temps. takes all but 30 seconds to remove and full flow ventilation! simple and easy! lol

I really enjoy when corporations shaft consumers, and consumers continue to defend them. Sure, a grille will help. It should come out of Honda’s pocket, not yours. An oil cooler makes it better? Great. Honda should pay for it too. Our shit is heavily marketed as a track car.

Honda has no shame when they come to charge us $8 for a $0.02 clip or $800 for HVAC controls. Or $1800 for an old school CD player.

And you want to pay $250 or $300 for them. That’s just, amazing to me.

Here’s another good example. Honda issued a TSB for known poorly manufactured AC condensers in our CTRs. They are known to have a manufacturing defect. But they will only replace them after they it breaks on you and inconveniences you. Today, we know we have poorly manufactured condensers, and taking it to the dealer as it is is an inconvenience. But at least today, one can plan it and try to slot the repair at a time that works for you, before it breaks down. Honda won’t do it, you’re known item with a manufacturer defect will only be replaced once you’re inconvenienced. Yet they get to keep your non broken money.

Millions of dollars has been spent by CTR owners to fix Honda’s dirt, by taking it in their own hands to fix the cooling issues. Honda is off the hook. Shit, I like my hood and I like my stock grille, I paid for them and don’t want to put some aftermarket shit. The track car that can’t be tracked because it overheats. I love my CTR, but I think today’s Honda is run by bean counters.

* Seibon & Varis — No comparison, Apples to Oranges.

* Does it dissipate heat more than OEM hood? — I have no technical data & dont intend to do so... BUT, when im at a stoplight, i see the steam & heat coming out of the Varis vent/opening, something the OEM hood doesnt do “as good”.
My friends and i did the exact same distance driving from LA to my house.. we all opened the hood and their engine bay was obviously hotter than mine.

* FRP vs Wet vs Dry Carbon - Do what your budget allows you to. Problem with our society nowadays, we’re too preoccupied with what “other people” has to say.
I knew i wanted it paint-matched CW when i first saw & lusted after it, so to me, it did not make sense if i got the Wet Carbon, because i would vomit at the thought of genuine CF being sanded to be painted, so i got the FRP.. had a friend’s shop sand & paint it.. you can pay $1200, you can pay $500-$700 (choose wisely).

Varis Quality? — You betcha. I did not do anything to the underhood & its beautiful. I did not put hood pins & confidently ran Willow Springs at 130mph. Im in SoCal, i’ve seen too many CTR Seibon hoods — they’re a hit or miss with fitment.

I dont mean to be blunt or harsh.. just real world experience, no technical bullshit, just common sense.
May i add, the Beauty of the Varis hood is what turned my car from a common CTR.. to a not-so-common one.. if u know what i mean.

Just like any other thing in life, if you Really want it, you’ll do everything to get it. If not, well, yours & your neighbors’ negative opinions will easily sway you away.

End of the day.. your money, your choices, your build. Live it, build it, Love it.

Or.. just live & let live.

Ok, yeah if it’s non track related yes roast Honda for not fixing it.

Please take plenty of photos when you get it before install and after. I have been debating on getting the wet carbon myself for the longest time.

Yea I will. The photos online right now are shit. The hood looks so amazing it deserves more than that lol.

Cheaper than everyone by a little bit, but probably because I've ordered so much from them in the last month.

But even from the very beginning they either already quoted me the best price I could find online or they will price match/beat other websites.

They've been giving me great service and stuff was drop shipped quickly after payment.
