I may be taking a job in UT or CO in the near future..may I ask you all, what type of tire are you using for your type R? is an all season adequate or do you find that you need a true winter tire?
I lived in Maryland and Albuquerque for 7 years total and drove fine in some snow with all season tires on a V6 Mustang and later, Acura RSX-S. I would prefer to only have 1 set of tires rather than 2, and drive my car daily with no desire to autocross of track it. Thank you.

Continental DSW06 All Seasons are pretty good and did okay last winter. This winter I will probably go with snow tires.

I'm on BF Goodrich G-Force Comp 2 (255/35/20) and so far so good. I've driven on snow these past couple of days, and although it can get squirrely very quickly under moderate acceleration, it is composed as soon as you get off the throttle. If you have a commute and this is your daily, I recommend to get a set of wheels/tires for the snow. If it's for every now and then driving, then all season should be good enough year round.
