Haven't found any explanation about this: anyone know why there are two slots or pockets on both sides of the black mesh fabric on the front seats?

I suspect for full harness belts.

My guess is a stress release point to prevent warping/wear on the bolsters. Unless there’s a pass through on the bottom you can’t get a harness through.

I'm pretty sure it's to relieve stress that would be on the stitches in that area if the pocket wasn't there. (By allowing the area under the hips to move more.)

Interesting, but don't see how. There's nothing inside the pocket and it doesn't pass through. It's only about 2" deep and 6" wide.

I could see that I. I figured the mesh would stretch, but maybe not enough over the long term.

I think it's just to stop the bolsters from moving inward when someone is sitting in the seat. If you press the center cushion near the edge (where the stitching meets) you'll see the bolster want to move towards the center vs if you do the same where the pocket is it won't do that. Specifically, where that pocket is is also where one's bum would be placed if they were sitting in the chair.

I always thought those slots were there to let the spare change that always falls out of my pockets to go to the floor beneath the seat never to be found again expect by a high performance vacuum cleaner! Well since it is confirmed they don't go through maybe a place to hide your stash...Did I just say that out loud?
