I tried the clutch adjustment like in the video but it barely got 1 turn and hit resistance.
Can't remember how much mine had but it was probably a full turn, maybe slightly less. I backed off an 1/8 after I felt the resistance. Have you driven it to test things out?

Mine has been much better, not perfect but definitely noticeably better. I don't fear the 1-2 anymore lol.

This sounds about right. It’s not a lot of thread but you should feel the pedal free play go away afterwards (NOT the CMC free play).

hey, have u adjusted your clutch pedal yet? wondering if it has helped your grinding issue at all. Keep us posted.
I haven't adjusted anything and I have been putting off swapping to Amsoil synchromesh trans fluid..
I lost count of how many grinds but I've got 4 or 5 of them on audio from my dash cam. I think I'm on 10 2nd gear grinds. I get one every 1-2 weeks. The one last night was really bad... I'd rather this trans start locking me out of 2nd or popping out of gear or grinding more frequently so that Honda can replace it. I don't want to swap fluids and do temporary fixes to prolong the issue. I'd rather it break under warranty.

Sorry to hear that, but the rod adjustment should be a permanent solution though. Give it a try, if it works, it'll be a good proof. Ppl says it should only take a couple mins max, good luck!

I dont have grinding issues but occasional resistance going into 2nd and a crunchy sensation. the rod adjustment seemed to help. I didnt take up all the slack but just enough to have the tiniest amount of rod freeplay before the CMC freeplay. I am too paranoid about partially engaging the clutch and burning out the throwout bearing early.

I already know my syncros have to be damaged and need replacing. I'm on 10+ grinds in the 5.2k miles.
I'd rather just let it break all the way and have it replaced. After it's replaced I will do the clutch adjustment and Amsoil syncromesh.

Had a real nice one today:

YIKES! I can say for certain that even with how crunchy my shifts are they do not sound like that for 98% of them. Didn’t even sound like you shifted past 2.5k RPM and you still grinded it.

Yea.. Mine are at any speed from 17-25mph. Had a bad one last Friday where I was trying to go around a slow car. What if I was turning out of a shopping center with fast cars approaching. Could get ugly in that situation if I can't get into 2nd.

I hear you on that one. This morning when I went to shift into 1st from a stop it did not at all feel like I went into that gear. I paused for a moment and reconsidered throwing it into 3rd then 1st again, but I decided to say screw it and tried accelerating. To my surprise it worked and didn’t make any noises. But first gear in general has become a bit more finicky then I remember, and it seems to get worse the gentler I try and push it into gear. No idea what’s going on with that.

Holy hell that sounds horrible.

I’ve had the grind I think twice within 12,000KM but it definitely didn’t sound that loud.

Also happened to me once in 2nd at around 300 miles. Sounded the same as the vids above. Never had this happen in 10-15 years of driving stick. I'll check if I can adjust the Freeplay.

My first time happened at 300 miles! Then every 800-1k mile after and now it's happening like every 100 miles.

I've also been driving manual cars for 15 years and have owned 7 manual cars in that span. Never had a car grind gears like this does and this gearbox got the most praise in review videos lol

It got praise because it felt good. The grind issue was well known though. Savagegeese put big light on it and actually had it happen during his testing. I'd make sure you report the issue with your local Honda dealership. Even if they can't reproduce it, you'll have it on paper that the complaint was made. If you complain enough, it's possible they'll replace the trans to avoid a lemon law issue.

Took it in twice for it.. But the odds of it happening on their 2 mile test drive is so slim that I get a "can not replicate"....
So at the end of the day I just have videos and no fix.

My main concern right now is that I want to mod.. A lot.. I worry with full bolt ons and hondata that they'll start pointing fingers at mods to avoid paying for a fix out of their pockets.

Master tech at a dealership near my work rode with me a few days ago. I showed him my 4 grind videos I had with clear audio. All normal shifts. Not even aggressive driving. He's going to ask the Honda field rep if I can get a new 2nd gear set.
