I think we need to differentiate between seal and fractures. I think the unit shows surface imperfections for sure on all cars. But some of them have fractures or bad seals.

Same thing as above. 1500 miles or so ago when I was installing my midpipe I saw a little bit of leaking coming out of the bell housing and cleaned it up. Yesterday (1500 miles later) I was under there looking over the car and this is what I see.

I have a total of 5,500 miles on my Type R approximately. The dealer is saying they have no record of any casings or transmission repairs from Honda. Basically calling this thread BS and bias.

For those of you that have had your transmission case or transmission replaced for this same issue (In a 2017+ type R) can you please let me know what dealerships you went to for the service? I am going to get my paperwork in order so after Honda cleans this leak up and it shows up again they can't say that everyone on here is lying.

I hate dealerships and I hate cover ups.

Thanks to anyone that has any info that can help me.

Dude, I saw this post and it pissed me off. Don’t worry, I got your back. I have my diagnosis paperwork, parts quoted, parts replaced, and final pickup paperwork.
I’ll send you a message with all relevant info. Dealers are scum

For reference if anyone is freaking out the oil pan assembly (all of it) is ~$165.
The clutch case assembly is ~$360
So it’s not thousands upon thousands.

Awesome and Thank you. The more ammo I have the better. They have cleaned it up and have me driving around for 500miles before checking it again.

Its never about the money... Its principle and if manufacture produces a defective part they should own up to it. Especially while the car is still under warranty.

I agree but there are some here that are either not under warranty or are modded too much. They could be freaking out.

I have twice before in my life gone and got something major fixed by a general mechanic and submitted it to the car manufacturer for warranty work. Of course they denied it. Then I sued and won (always net positive). I’m totally with you, Honda _will_ pay.

Did you happen to have a chance to put that info together?

Thanks!

I have a 2019 and I noticed the leak today. I just had a down pipe and exhaust put on at the shop. The mechanic noticed the transmission is leaking. Car only has 7k miles. So disappointing.

Another year, another wet spot at the black inspection cover. Vehicle currently at 11,994 miles.

Before:

Cleaned it up and will re-inspect soon:

I said I will re-inspect soon because I just noticed that the previous tech who work on it, forgot to put these two bolts back on the tray. Now I need to order 2x 90105-TBA-A00

So this is a powertrain issue and would be covered under the 5 year/60,000 miles warranty, correct?

5/23/21 edit: I crawled down there today and noticed fresh oil. I've concluded this is not transmission oil, but engine oil and made a new thread.
