I searched and didn't find anything, so I assume it hasn't been posted yet. My favorite part about this was reading the comments as most people seem to like the Type R better.

Give it some time, it'll grow on you. Just like the FK8, a lot of folk disliked it at first, but they're coming around...

I still legitimately dont understand the hate for it having BMW engine/parts. Its not ideal but its the only thing that made sense for Toyota given the rise of crossovers, and the car looks amazing, sounds amazing, and a legendary Toyota tuner even tore apart its B58 engine and found that the stock crank should be able to hold 1000 hp, along with the rest of the engine being pretty robust as well. That to me makes it an engine worthy of being in the Supra, BMW or not.

And comparing it to a Type R is also kind of stupid to me as well. One's a FWD hot hatch in the mid 30k range and the other is a RWD sports car/gt car at a very different price point. So if you're legitimately in the market for a new sports car, you'd be cross shopping 2 cars with a ~20k difference in MSRP.

i love it. I don't care what anyone says. It's fast, it handles well, and has great potential. Only downside is the lack of MT.

yeah i hope so. Idk what they didn't just use a MT from the M240i or something.

I don't mind the ZF though. I'm thinking about replacing my ILX with it as a DD duty so having one AT car might be ok. We'll see how it feels when they actually allow test drives on this thing.

I don't get the obsessed comparison of these two cars. IMO, supra is better all around than the type R...but there's a price to pay.

I also don't get how anyone argues that the Type R is better lol...to me, the supra has way more power (from what I've seen on dynos, not the MFR's numbers) and it's RWD!

But, I still like my Type R better...because my wife would kill me if I traded it in right now...but later...different story :D I'm thinking 2021 I'll trade in for the Supra

this is the perfect time for Honda to rerelease a new s2k to match or beat the new supra performance wise at a cheaper price point!

If you assume a 15% loss due to powertrain, the dynos show the Supra making about 400HP at the crank. I know a lot of people online have said that it's possible Toyota listed the HP at the wheels instead of at the crank which I can kind of see 340 isn't terribly far from 330 and if you subtract off the 15% powertrain loss from 385 you get that magical 330 number.

It's kind of ironic because everyone was asking for 400HP and got PO'ed when Toyota says 330HP. Then the Dyno comes and says 340 to the wheels (about 400HP to crank). It's almost as if Toyota was trolling us :p

Honda does need to bring the S2000 back. I know when the CTR first came out people were showing dyno runs around 290-295HP which would equate to about 330 HP crank. Assuming what I said about the Supra above is right, putting that engine in a car that weighs about 2800 pounds should make it so it has the same power to weight ratio as the new Supra ;) Do it Honda!

Toyota said a MT is not coming and if you want a manual to go get an 86.

Sucks but this is the world we live in now :(
