Hello guys,
How long should the break in period last?
I am thinking that 1000km it's enough.
Also what are the "rules" for the break in? Any best way to do it?

I did 600 miles, never over 4000 RPM's, lots of moderate accelerating and coasting back down to 2500 rpms (theoretically the vacuum helps seal the rings). Gentle braking as well. Went to the track after 750 miles.

i just drove the car like how i'd drive it. Never did a "break in" on any of my cars except for engines that i rebuilt.

The manual says something to the effect, "easy acceleration and light braking only during the first 700 miles". I could hardly wait to get there at the time lol now at 5k miles stomping on it :headbang:

I did already 450km, top rpm was 3000, and easy acceleration... 500km to go.. :spaz:

no break in here, these motors are already broken in from the factory. Just keep up with the maintenance consistently and you will be good.

The break in is mostly for all the moving parts, around the motor...

Mine was broken in before I bought it by the assholes at the Stealership.....
But, like a good boy I'm driving it moderately over time increasing the rpm shift points.

I'd say that smooth acceleration is probably more important than RPM on break-in. But there are SO MANY opinions on this, you can't turn around without some old wive's tale about how Jimmy threw rods at 50,000mi because during break-in he didn't gently caress the throttle before applying pressure to it for no more than 4000 RPM...

Ahem.

Honestly, follow the 600mi break-in suggestion from the manual if you don't have any strong opinions one way or the other. Take it easy, be nice to the brakes, don't race the engine hard especially when cold (ever).

Drive it like how it's meant to be driven. Some folk are taking brand new CTR's off the lot straight to the track without any problems. I berly hit 5k miles on mine with 40% oil life. I'm itching to change the oil, but I'll wait for the MM.
