Upcoming TLX Type S

Everyone's thoughts on this? I had an '05 as my second car and absolutely loved it until I sold it at ~250k miles, bulletproof. Likely its just nostalgia but I'm excited to see where they go with it. Part of me believes they wont screw it up and offer it in a longitudinally mounted TT V6, RWD/AWD, and a type R-esque gearbox but then again, I am an unreasonable eternal optimist

See below for the concept to be unveiled in a few days at Monterey which, if rumors are to be believed, is very close to the finished exterior. I actually think it's the best looking Acura I've seen since the TL if they hold true to this design. It's been seen being tested with an S4(another of my previously owned cars, AWD) and a C43 amg(AWD?) They have a chance to make a very good DD for me..

If the Accord's rear end looks half as good as the Type S, there wouldn't be so many sitting idle at dealer lots. Honda can make a good looking car, they're just not willing on the Accord. This one will have ~350 hp with a turbocharged J35? An answer to the 3.3L turbo Stinger at 365 hp.

Just drove the RDX as a loaner and it was impressive in performance and interior-and I hate SUV's/crossovers.

I thought, "if they just jam this engine and interior into a sedan (and add a 6MT too!), that would be nice".

Hate to disappoint but the fact they're benchmarking the S4(~350 hp) and c43 (~360 hp) tells us about how much it will have

Some of the articles have mentioned a detuned version of the nsx 3.5, not sure if that's accurate. Thinking bringing it down to a single turbo instead of twin would have it somewhere in that range reliably?

I think it looks sharp. Since the old J-series 3.7s were cracking 300 hp on the older TL SH AWDs that followed the older FWD Type-Ss... saying this is a going to be a turbo V6 should probably put it in the mid-300s to be competitive. I would have loved to cross shop a manual TL SH-AWD when I got this Civic... and I looked, but there were none around. Several auto but I couldn't bring myself to settle for an automatic at that time.

Maybe my eyes are wrong... but I get a touch of a Lexus vibe by the car. It's still definitely an Acura... but some of the styling cues look similar. Bigger grill but keeps the Acura 'beak' look. flat long Narrow tail lights... kinda reminiscent of a LC500. I always love the quad exhaust look too... it's my favorite setup.

My son (19 yo in college) wants to buy my type r in a couple of years so I could definitely see this on my short list. Here's hoping for awd and a manual 6spd!

Looks great! I hope they keep it close to concept looks and that it would at least as desirable as the 04-08 TLs.

Being a FWD platform if they push past 300hp it will definitely not come in a 6MT. This price range will be somewhere $49-51K and like current trends, have a slight bump in MSRP.

As a previous TL Type S owner, it makes me happy to see the nameplate revived. Acura used to know how to make fun to drive performance oriented cars that were also comfortable and luxurious to drive, hope this new Type-S brings them back to where they were. If the car looks anything like that though and is in the mid 300's horsepower wise, is should be very competitive. I also hope they give it the interior worthy of a luxury car instead of the previous TLX, that'll make it even better.

Sadly this is true, Nissan is our only hope with offering the next gen Z with a turbo 6 and 6MT.

Definitely dreaming about a turbo v6 honda. Honda was supposedly working on a turbo v6 for the new upcoming Acura RDX and instead came with the turbo 4 derivative from the Type R.
