Ah I had an APR tuned Golf R so it was a lot faster but I would say depends on the track. Haven’t driven a type R so I can’t really say for certain.

Now I think we can both agree WRX>Si

If not I don’t know what to say to you.

Also I’m not sure you know what your talking about concerning the DSG vs manual argument.

There is a reason formula 1 doesn’t use manuals. It’s not just a straight line it’s basically every single shift that happens. More turns more shifts etc. The only thing i some what agree with you is the brakes aren’t that great.

So, awhile back I was lamenting that I raced a VW GTI and got beat by a car length. About a year earlier, the same GTI beat my Acura TL by about a car length, so to make it worse, he beat my SI the day b-4 I installed my Ktuner, 19/23 map. On my way back to work after lunch, I pull next to the same GTI at the same light that he had beaten me twice from. I might add that in the past, when it was clear that he had won, he backs off (about 90mph), and I would do the same. Yesterday, I take off from the light, and it's on. This time I walk off from him, and at about 90, I back off, blink my brake lights 3 times, and expect him to do the same. Oh no, he is obviously miffed and goes by 90 + and proceeds to weave through the traffic we were rapidly approaching. I'd already beaten him so I proceeded to do the speed limit. I was sooo happy! I know at 68 years old I should be past this kind of stuff, but all the way back to work my heart was singing. HA!
I hate to say this man, I was excited about reading this thread thinking this was at a track. 90mph out of a traffic light? You have no respect for people’s lives, you should be in jail for a couple of days to cool down and keep the streets safe.

Is this worth killing someone, losing your license, going to jail, etc? When there are perfectly legal and safe platforms for it? You should try the track, it’s fun. You’ll never think of doing that in the street again.

Yeah, I don't think it's wise to take this car past 90 for a sustained amount of time. I believe the GTi has a bigger engine. You can only push this engine in it's stock configuration so much before stuff will start to break. It's an economy engine, a slightly better version than the regular Civic
Beg to disagree. Why? Because extended high RPM's are what cause an engine to run hotter, not MPH. You can certainly go at least 105 + and have low enough RPM's to protect your SI. Honda designed a lot of reliability and performance into the SI. Don't sell it short.

Not everywhere is california buddy, relax.

Here in Miami you have literal BANDS of cars doing consecutive runs after hours where there is no traffic in sight.
It really all depends on the location. South Florida looks like a graveyard at night.

Car is quick up to triple digits then Plato’s off quite substantially... most likely the tall gearing in 5 and 6

It took me like 4 miles to go from 100-130.

My GTI tuned was able to get up to 155 on the same track and distance.
On an SI it took you 4 miles? It should take one mile or a little more than one mile to hit 130mph. I can just say check your exhaust system. If it's flowing well, 130mph come up quick! Stock exhaust on all 1.5's restrict.

This made me chuckle.
Nevada is gonna be California too with the exodus of Californians to that state

Man, the real enthusiasts are trying to get rid of the "Street takeover" dudes here.
We have jerkoffs closing off intersections doing donuts and illegal shit heating it up for everybody else like that dumb trend in Oakland.
Eventually we're gonna end up like California with strict car modifying laws if this shit doesn't stop.
Real enthusiasts don't do this dumb reckless shit on the street. We find completely deserted areas in the middle of the Everglades or a empty highway to run it.

I have been there. Homestead area. Following the law is not dictated by the time of day.

I didn’t get an actual Mile mark but it was very slow on the stock exhaust and TSP tune from 100 miles onward. The GTI would have pulled football fields away. Both on stage 1 tunes and 93 octane.

I wouldn’t consider an exhaust on a lease.
