So, awhile back I was lamenting that I raced a VW GTI and got beat by a car length. About a year earlier, the same GTI beat my Acura TL by about a car length, so to make it worse, he beat my SI the day b-4 I installed my Ktuner, 19/23 map. On my way back to work after lunch, I pull next to the same GTI at the same light that he had beaten me twice from. I might add that in the past, when it was clear that he had won, he backs off (about 90mph), and I would do the same. Yesterday, I take off from the light, and it's on. This time I walk off from him, and at about 90, I back off, blink my brake lights 3 times, and expect him to do the same. Oh no, he is obviously miffed and goes by 90 + and proceeds to weave through the traffic we were rapidly approaching. I'd already beaten him so I proceeded to do the speed limit. I was sooo happy! I know at 68 years old I should be past this kind of stuff, but all the way back to work my heart was singing. HA!

With this back story, all I keep thinking of is the Ree brothers from "Better off Dead" always racing John Cusack's character Lane Meyer through out the movie:rofl:

I don't know if this would be considered an accomplishment, but last week I was able to easily keep up with an Infinity G35 (TSP stage 1 tune map 2) in front of me trying to lose me. When he hit 70 mph on a 45 mph zone it was time to give up. Safety first

A basic tune alone in this car can make a world of difference. Had fun with a 350Z a few weeks ago, he couldn't catch me. Hondata +6.

Car is quick up to triple digits then Plato’s off quite substantially... most likely the tall gearing in 5 and 6

It took me like 4 miles to go from 100-130.

My GTI tuned was able to get up to 155 on the same track and distance.

Yeah, I don't think it's wise to take this car past 90 for a sustained amount of time. I believe the GTi has a bigger engine. You can only push this engine in it's stock configuration so much before stuff will start to break. It's an economy engine, a slightly better version than the regular Civic

So your modded si best a stock gti?
A stock Si is not a performance car. It's a slightly better funner version of the regular Civic, that's why people mod them. It also has a smaller engine and is cheaper than GTi. All that being said, it will still be running when the GTi is waiting for an engine rebuild or in junk yard heaven

Its not an all out performance car like lets say a Cayman, but its far from a "slightly better funner version of the regular Civic", thats selling it short brother, its a Sport Sedan/Coupe, go look at the lightning lap numbers and the cars it beat and tell me otherwise.

That doesn't make the car bad nor is it a put down. It has the same engine as the regular Civic except added sodium filled valves and forged Pistons, better suspension set up, helical diff, more aggressive tuning and some better wheels. It's an impressive car, sporty, but not a sports car
