Hi all,

Does anyone know of a good transmission mechanic in the Central Illinois area who could work on my 2019 Civic with 6MT? I'm trying to figure out if I can get an LSD in there, but lack the tools and knowledge to do it myself.

Thanks in advance

Well there isn't any aftermarket LSDs available so I don't know what you plan to pursue really? Your only option right now would be a LSD from an Si model, at that point you might as well trade your car in for an Si as the Si has active dampening suspension, LSD, stronger rods, better turbo, better flowing inlet pipe to name a few..

I'm 6'7" and can't fit into an Si. The (strangely mandatory) sunroof cuts down headroom by several inches, it's a real shame because I would have gotten one if it had had a hardtop.

I was looking over the exploded views of the Si and Sport transmissions, as well as part numbers for the respective pieces. It's the same transmission case, main difference I could find was the different mainshafts (countershafts and most gears are identical). The ring gears are different, too. I was wondering if I could swap in an Si ring gear/LSD combo, and I wanted to talk to a mechanic who was familiar with them to see if it could be done.

Edit: typo

The driver seat in my Si can adjust height, not sure if you were aware of that or not.. I would assume you could convert your trans with little to no modification, I'm currently running a Civic Type R clutch/flywheel retro fit and a modified cmc.

I'm aware it goes down; even with the seat all the way down, my head was still touching the headliner.

That is also who did mine, I was the first retrofit they installed actually! Although they did call me a few times and were hesitant on a couple things, they now got it all down haha. Good to hear you also had a good experience.

Thanks for the recommendations, I might have to give them a call when my car shows up. Build date got pushed back a week or two after one of the production shifts got shut down :dunno:

On a side note, what're the benefits of retrofitting the CTR clutch in?
