So glad I left the commie state of NY for Florida. I'm in ohio now which sucks ass but still nowhere near as bad as NY.
Honestly that's scary. There could literally be thousands of drivers running around on bald tires, just waiting to crash into you at the first drops of rain or snow.I also lived in Ohio for 6 years (Now living in Miami) I enjoyed my time in Ohio (specifically Columbus) There are no state inspections in either state.... Ohio or Florida.
Going to be a difficult thing to examine with stats. Are there stats collected on the number of deaths, injuries, and property damage due to poorly maintained cars? I don't know about the other states, but the NY inspection goes well beyond tires and emissions. It covers lights, brakes, steering/suspension and glass."Say what you will about the "commie" state of NY, but some things make sense. annual safety inspections are one of them."
Most states don't have them:
"15 states have a periodic (annual or biennial) safety inspection program, while Maryland and Alabama require a safety inspection on sale or transfer of vehicleswhich were previously registered in another state."
Would love to see some objective stats proving the worth of "safety inspections". A real money maker for the tire stores and quick lube joints.
That said i believe law enforcement personnel can still issue tickets for unsafe vehicle conditions and would not be opposed to them towing vehicles with bald tires, inoperative brakes, etc..
Partially agree, however, next time you walk through a parking lot, look at the tires some drivers are using, especially the mini-Vans, you'll see some scary stuff.I would not be surprised to find that unsafe, inattentive drivers are the cause of the vast majority of accidents; not faulty or under-maintained equipment.

Well my post title was meant as kind of a joke. I said it was clickbait. lol.Same reason they didn't scrape the sticker, they gave you a chance to rectify the finding. Post isn't right on the account you used them for numerous AC events, and titled it that your R "Failed" inspection. It didn't, the wear and tear items did, and you wore them out.
Click-bait is/are, misleading advertisements "on purpose" so I don't appreciate that term on a forum people use for information. Understand you wanted to post, but there a a handful of ways to state something without implying there's something wrong with the Type R in a forum title.Well my post title was meant as kind of a joke. I'm not complaining about the tires at all. I Just wanted to share my experience.

Would be like me saying "MY Type R died on the freeway yesterday". Only to go on and state yeah, I didn't fill it up with gas, and it did exactly what it should do. You did have one point, and should have been the thread's title. "Suggest rotating tires more frequently". Factory wear is ~10K, they should be rotated more often depending on driving conditions (track).
But in South Carolina you have to pay an annual property tax on vehicles? That's stupid. Now I know why I don't live in NY state
I think they need to pay more taxes in NY state
so they can fix the roads. The tires look somewhat marginal, but I though they would of passed.
