Sakebomb Garage is proud to present the first up-sized OE replacement rotor rings for the Honda Civic Type-R FK8.

Tired of warping stock discs on the track? Want to shed weight and dramatically increase cooling? These rotors are 2mm thicker than stock rotors, lighter than OEM, directional curved vane (which acts as an air pump to actively cool the disc), and fit perfectly in the stock front Brembos. We've listened to the community and understand with the amount of track days these cars can handle, the brake rotors become a weak point in an otherwise fantastically sorted chassis. We've taken the knowledge and R&D from our successful BBK's in the past on other platforms and wanted to bring that to the Type-R community!

SBG Premium Brake Rotors:

  • Competition Inspired 350mm x 34mm Rotor Design (+2mm width vs stock)
  • High-Performance, Light-Weight Solid Mount Rotors
  • Rotors feature 32 Curved Directional Vanes, with 15mm Air Gap
  • Proprietary High Temperature Alloy
  • Slot Pattern engineered to increase pad bite
  • Race Grade 2024 T351 Hard Anodized Aluminum Rotor Hat
The directional vanes (as opposed to straight vane OEM rotors) act as an air pump to pull cold air from the center of the rotor and expel hot air at the rotors edge. Directional curved vanes literally expel heat and therefore run cooler than straight vane designs given the same rotor mass. The rotors in this kit were designed for efficiency and weight reduction to drastically raise the bar for braking capacity while avoiding the detriments of unsprung weight on handling.

*Brake pads for this caliper are readily available from nearly every pad manufacturer. As pad choice varies greatly depending on personal preference, application, and desired cost, we decided not to include pads to reduce the total cost as one pad obviously does not fit all. To see a list of commonly used pads please visit the following Link. We are able to source many other pads such as Performance Friction and Endless. We will be stocking various Endless pad compounds in the near future.

Tired of warping stock discs on the track?
No one is warping the stock discs. Maybe getting pad deposits that cause vibration, but it is virtually impossible to warp cast iron rotors, especially ones as thick as the stock rotors.

What would be helpful in marketing your product is the weight, as the primary reason to move to a 2 piece rotor on a Type R is weight savings - the stock rotors are heavy since they are 1 piece / don't have aluminum hats.

Hey! You make a great point, appreciate you mentioning that, but I have those images and will update the initial page.

Our rotors are much lighter than the OEM rotors.

Awesome! That is a huge unsprung/rotational weight savings, and like you said, extra thickness on the disc and directional vanes for better heat tolerance/dissipation.

These are the lightest on the market, as far as I can tell. Very cool. Any plans to sell the rotor rings separately?

Rings can be purchased through us as replacements! they're built specifically to the hats. We keep them in stock and don't gouge people on replacement ring prices. Our replacement rings are $195 each, if you compare to Girodisc at near over $300 each. We feel that not only giving you a great value upfront in the future you can continue to keep racing at at a savings.

Hey!

There is a Sakebomb deigned version, it's our Custom rotors and hats to allow a +2mm over stock rotor on the OEM Brembo's.
https://www.sakebombgarage.com/honda-civic-type-r-fk8-2pc-rotors-350x34-2mm-over-stock/

We also have the AP rotor rings which was a collaboration with Essex. Similar size but with AP Rings.

If you're interested we also made a combo deal for $950 for a set of our SakeBomb Rings with our SS braided lines.

How much are the rotor rings for the Essex rotor?
You stated the rotor ring for the SBG one is $195 each.

Also I saw on your site there is a coming soon SBG AP racing version? When can we expect more details like weight? Rotor ring price? Specific number of vanes?

@SakeBomb Garage Do these rotors require pads that are thinner than standard to fit within the caliper? I have Carbotech pads for the stock setup that I don't want to swap out.
