Have you had this issue since you bought the car?
what tires are you on?
Are your tires worn?

This is just a loud car.. Even compared to a normal Civic Hatchback its loud.
And is second what @FifStreet asked. Is this a new issue or has it been like this from the start?

Or did you just move to Seattle?

byproduct of the car's nature. high performance tires with lots of surface area will generate more noise. A+S tires will help and also going with a larger profile tire (by going with a smaller wheel, or going up from the stock 30 profile).

I hear you though. You'll get used to it. I came from a Lexus GS and the first drive off the lot was sensory overload.

As many folks have mentioned, tires are going to be a major contributor to the noise. 30 series sidewalls ensure you feel and hear everything, assuming you’re on stocks.

I just turn up the stereo :headbang:

I believe cars built for high performance driving and aggressive suspension are mostly noisy . I had a evo10 did the same thing only that the suspension was softer

I installed Dynamat Superlite in the hatch & inside the doors for audio upgrades, but it helped with aftermarket exhaust & road noise a good bit. Not a difficult install, but time consuming. Dynamat is a good bit less expensive (and lighter) than Soundskins, but probably does not dampen noise as well either.

Have you had this issue since you bought the car?
what tires are you on?
Are your tires worn?
i am on stock tires and have 3300 miles on it.. of which 850 is the ride took from CA to WA as soon as i purchased.
Tires are not worn. its bad on normal WA roads.. but worse on I90( which i started to commute on recently, not new to I90 though)
our other car is an accord and its not that bad compared to cabin noise in type R..

The car comes stock with very aggressive tires. One way to decrease road noise would be to swap wheels and tires and get something much less aggressive. I bought a second set of wheels with 19" 400TW ""sporty"" all seasons and they are much quieter than the 240TW stockers or the 200TW tires on my S2000.
Thanks. Thinking about wheel/tires swap. didn't like wheel options for 19' or 18'.. hence the wait

Did you notice a significant reduction in noise with 19"

don't want to get used to it. trying find a way to kill the noise. larger profile and smaller wheel is in consideration..thanks mate
