Do you happen to have any photos of the FRP hood not painted? Any chance you compared the weight to OEM? I am wondering what the weights are of the FRP, wet carbon and dry carbon versions.

I really want this hood for my CBP but it does have a high price tag. Then I don't which one I would get if I did, FRP $1400 or wet carbon $2500? The dry carbon price tag I don't think I can justify at $3600.

Have you been dailying the car with this hood? If so, have you run in to any issues with driving it in the rain? Has water gotten in the engine bay?? Thanks.

Not to resurrect an old dinosaur...

I knew from the first time i saw the pics last January that i wanted this hood & i wanted it paint-matched.
Now i cannot get myself to paint a wet or dry carbon Varis hood (if i had PMM or CBP, i would’ve gotten the wet carbon and left it raw, unpainted)...
I got the FRP - if you search FB forums well enough, you’ll find a seller that gives a very good discount on it, way less than MSRP.
Paint-matching CW was a pain, so the price on that will be subjective/variable on the body/paint shop you choose.
I have no technical data or numbers, but with the OEM hood, i know all of you will agree that 15 mins of driving and that engine bay is Hottttt!
With this, 2hrs of stop and go Los Angeles traffic driving - i got home, popped the hood, the subjective temps are waaay less than 15 mins of driving with the OEM hood.

After all is said & done, i could not be any happier. For the Price, Function & Looks - definitely one of my better mods/purchases.
Any hint where the vendor can be found?

I want the wet carbon. It looks great + JDM. Just sucks to pay more than double what a carbon fiber Seibon costs.
the quality of the carbon is nowhere near what seibon is though.
I want the carbon too but i'm also going to paint it so idk. A part of me just wants to settle with the frp because it's gonna be painted over.

Thinking the same... Is it worth $1k just to have the vent areas in CF when the rest will be white.. lol

yeah. I know it'll definitely look better with the carbon showing but i'm thinking just getting FRP and painting it black to save 1k lol. I'm not a fan of the carbon hood on a white car so not having it painted is out of the question so ...

I love carbon fiber stuff. Swapped almost every black piece on my Z06 to APR carbon fiber stuff.
Unfortunately, JDM carbon fiber stuff for the Type-R costs WAY more than Z06 stuff lol.
I think if I do the carbon fiber Varis hood I'll have to get all the OEM exterior pieces in real carbon fiber also and ditch the faux stuff.

This car is becoming a money pit

i'm working on more of fixing and modifying the cooling aspects of the car now and was my main reason for wanting the varis hood. So as much as i want to replace all the faux carbon .. idk if i can justify that big of an amount for pure aesthetic purposes.

You pay to play, Varis is one of the best and one of the most well-known aero manufacturers in Japan.
