So from yesterday, shop had installed the stock ball-seated lugs on the Raijin (conical seated) wheels. I had assumed, wrongfully, that they would have checked this before putting the wheels on. Boy was I wrong! I needed to get to work and didn't want to wait for the original retailer of the wheel to tell me to pick up the lug nuts (they had been a little slow). Well, I'm still waiting on them, earliest is Monday morning.

Well, looked around all morning for lug nuts so I can actually drive my car since a certain shop decided the stock lugs were good enough. Only place with a full set of 20 was DiscountTire, they only have 2" truck ones. Go there, purchased the lug nuts and had them install them while I was there. Also asked them to check to make sure the wheel itself wasn't damaged (80-ish miles on ball lugs with a conical wheel). If any damage done I'd have to go through the original shop for repair reimbursement. They bring the car in and ask if there was a special socket to get the lugs off. Originally assumed that it was the lock nut and I had given the key to one of the other employees. They mean the normal lugs. Long story short, they had no socket that was thin enough to clear the lug holes of the rim.

So back to the original shop it went to get the lugs removed and replaced (they got them on, they certainly they can get them off). I get to the original shop and tell the manager who's been pretty good to me for the past year and a half that the lugs never should have been used on the wheel and could damage it. He says he didn't know that and that it was good to know. He replaces the lugs and I'm sent on my way.

Back to DiscountTire and have them look at the wheel to inspect, tech rolls the wheel into the waiting room to show me there isn't any structural damage to the wheel. Yay!

I'm still debating on whether I want to go with the short black ones that I already paid for, but have yet to receive. I feel like I'd like the shorter ones better, but don't know for sure. My friend told me to find some red ones for aesthetic purposes.

TL;DR: So so far, I've purchased a set of wheels + lug nuts. Gotten the wrong lug nuts. Had a shop install the wheels with the stock (wrong) lug nuts. Gotten replacement lug nuts ordered for me through the original supplier. They ordered long instead of short. Order changed to short. Bought long lug nuts so I can actually drive my car today (and this weekend apparently), that shop can't take off the stock lug nuts, so I had to go to the original shop that installed them to get them off. Got the long lugs installed and the wheels aren't damaged. Still not heard back about the original lug nuts I ordered. I'm not sure if anything else can go wrong, but the wheels are still worth it.

:) Reads like a story of my life. New shoes look good!

Since you're rocking and rolling, I'd just wait for the shorter lug nuts to arrive. Can easily flip the longer ones on CL or OfferUp. Congrats on the new setup!

The funny part is all this back and forth, wrong lugs, cant get off ... mean while a guy on 2nd street could have removed and sold the wheels in 10 mins tops lol. Funny how the bad guys get shit done and the legit way is a pain in the ass.

Can you share the link for the side mirror, I come in few close calls this week already, thanks in advance
https://www.kamispeed.com/collections/honda-civic-type-r
I found the best prices at kamispeed with promo "kamilove" I believe it was...
Also it said pre-order and when I e-mailed them they told me shipment was expected in about 6 weeks but it shipped the very next day! I guess the distributor got some in and so it was drop shipped to me and got it with in 3 days.

  • Gave her a bath
  • Installed OEM Visors
  • Installed 4 Cusco Braces (1 strut bar, 3 underbody)
  • Tested out 4 shift knobs. Settled on the last one (the first three are for sale... details here!)

That's the Kuda mount here. A lot of people choose to add an additional mount on top -- not only is that way more expensive, but I feel it kills the whole aesthetic. I bought a couple magnet bars on amazon and stuck them on the backside. With metal plate on the back of my phone, it sticks like glue and can also hold my charging cable which has a little magnet on the tip. The metal plate kills the wireless charging capability of my phone, but I'd rather have this. :)

Fed her some E85:drool:

Nice! There's an oversupply (E85 is cheap now!) of ethanol causing some producers to shutdown production. No better time to enjoy the ride while it lasts. I hope it doesn't cause stations to discontinue the product down the road. Really debating on whether to install the kit that's been sitting on my shelf for the last couple of months. I bet the increased power is addictive running on corn fuel.
