First time doing a retrofit and I’m really unhappy with the outcome. My cutoff looks terrible and I don’t know why. I read that I should get the motoho1ders for this so I did and it still looks terrible. What am I doing wrong? This is the retroquik kit from TRS.

You should have just dropped some LEDs in the projector lowbeams. There was no need to do anything more than that.

If you used the mini h1 projector, the shield is probably not bent/curved correctly. That's why I always get the d2s projectors. I had the first version of the mh1 projectors and I had all kinds of issues though I've never tried the newer ones. After that, I stuck with d2s and never had an issue since. I've done about 4 retrofits total so I'm no expert but I am somewhat knowledgeable. You can probably mess with the sheild or bulb spacing and get it better but that's lots more work.

Another tip: always test the light output on the car before you seal the cover to the housing.

If my goal was to just change the color, I would’ve.

It's a defective kit. Exchange it or refund It.

Seems like this thread devolved into a TRS dump thread. As someone stated above, probably just got a faulty pair or yoi bought their "value" pairs of projectors. They definately have their ups and downs but i would use TRS over most other 3rd party and china brand projectors. That being said, the driverside seems to be suffering from a bilb seating issue

After doing a little shimming I was able to get them looking better. Definitely not dumping on TRS. They’ve been great. But the upgraded bulb holders are pretty useless imo. Also these are the Mini H1 7.0, not bargain bin projectors.

I mean, for $120 they should’ve worked properly out of the box.
How did you install the mounting adapter, if you put it between the shield and lens, you will get shitty results. It has to go between the reflector bowl and shield.
