My girlfriend and I love camping, we’ve done many trips in her suv with a roof top tent. I tried camping inside my hatch but without a proper bed platform it kinda sucked. I’ve seen 8th gens with roof top tents both soft and hard shell. Will the roof of the 10th gen be able to support that much weight? If not guess my best option would be roof rack with a Thule box and build a proper bed platform and most likely remove rear seats for every trip. Any and all advice/suggestions are greatly appreciated!

I’ve seen some people modify a tent to fit over a hatchback similar to a Pontiac Aztec tent

Yes I have seen that as well. I just prefer to keep hatch closed. Main concern is if roof will support weight of tent and up to 2 people. The Thule and Yakima roof racks say max weight is sub 200 pounds yet I see people mounting these tents on top of them no problem. It's all kind of confusing. Biggest fear is invest in rack and new tent and it causes damage to the roof from the weight.

Climbing up into it would be a challenge also you would have to situate a latter so it won’t touch the car I could see on a suv but the civic is small to be honest I would go with the tent attached to the hatch

Don't the tents mount to bars? If so, just get some roof rack bars and put it on that. I'd imagine the sides of the car can handle much more weight the middle of roof.

Hell, I had a falling acorn leave a dent on my roof. I don't think I'd be willing to hang out up there.
