Going in for the first oil change tomorrow. Will report back. Civic Touring with about 8,200 miles. Will get the oil done and wheels rotated. I have wheel locks as the car came with it. As soon as it hit 15% I got the warning. Mostly drive in Econ mode. Hopefully no issues. I think alert type 1? I am sure the dealer will recommend and other service I need. As to the car, very pleased so far. OK, nothing is perfect. Coming from a 2014 Mini Cooper 2 seater made only four years I am pleased. It rides like a dream.

Car is black. Will post do not wash inside. What else? Clear bra whole hood. High rise Honda mats and rear liner. Dash cam front and rear Blackvue. Removed just about everything including Glock. Work in Atlanta go figure. While I have a concealed carry permit I am hesitant about leaving anything in the car at the dealer for the first time. Better safe than sorry. In the past I have video taped the car at drop off with a walk around. In the past never an issue but I don't leave firearms in my car for service.

Feel free to comment on any of above. Never my favorite day to visit the dealer. Not sure if there are any recalls have read the threads. Will take a book just in case. Mini oil changes was always at 10K. This is not that bad.

How do you prepare if you drop off car at dealer? What do you remove from car? Anything I am missing? What would you do differently? Not expecting perfection.

Thanks
Bill

Well, I would DEF not leave the heater in the car!!! Wear it or leave it home for the day if you are not a EDC diehard.

Otherwise, I never leave anything valuable in the car on a regular basis. Not even change in a cup holder. I have an incredibly low trust factor for people that I will literally never see and that includes nosy buggers that walk around the car anywhere it is parked, to say nothing of the people that are in the service bays. All the intended things stay in the car though like floor mats and LED bulbs that I have changed out from the incandescents. I am distrustful, not paranoid! LOL! The most expensive thing I might leave in the dash is a tire pressure gauge.

My dealership doesn't wash with service so I don't need to worry about that aspect. I guess the walk around with a camera beforehand is not a terrible idea but I have never had an issue with the care of my vehicles at my dealership as far as paint/dirt issues.

I let the dealership do the oil the first two times on this Civic but I did the third and will do the subsequent ones. I still have them do some of the other service items that are either too annoying if you don't have a lift or that I don't want to mess with like transmission fluid changes. So things like air and cabin filters, I do those. I also do my brake services as my mechanic trained brother taught me the ins and outs of doing a properly comprehensive cleanup and lube. Brake pads are also stupid simple to do but that is a rare thing to change now. Might only wear out a set of pads once every 100,000 kms.

just get ready to say “thanks, but no thanks” a lot when they come at ya with that multi-point inspection report. Either that or lube up your anus liberally.

How did you get 8k miles?? Mine barely makes it to 3k before it comes on, sometimes even 2k. I just decided to ignore it

Well,

Not a die hard fan of firearms. And I don't have what I would call valuables in the car, things like a tire gauge or flash drive of music if stolen is just inconvenient. I have never had an issue at dealerships in the past. Normally a great relationship and saves me time. As to the 8K? I don't think I have had the car out of Econ Mode since I got it. I hope that is not a bad thing for the car?

I normally drive the speed limit and here on the road is 70mph. Just set the cruise control. Usually at work early so almost no traffic at 4AM. Not the same story on the way home. So I enjoy either music or a ton of podcasts.

After the oil change, check for engine panel screw missing. Best is to do before you live the dealer.

Have a look right now how they look.

Dealer was fine. Car returned clean as it was when I left it. They don't wash them but rather give you the code to the car wash. Your choice? Oil change $39.95, Rotate & Balance $34.95. Out the door $81.07. Left in car USB Led lights under console red. Apple phone cable in armrest. I am sure they would not steal, never had an issue of that sort with a dealer. I did when I had an accident and car was towed. They even stole the pennies out of the cup holder! Mileage was 8,184 on the sheet. MPG runs at 37 or so. Wait time was 45 minutes. Really not that bad at all. All screws in place.

The maintenance minder determines when you need an oil change using distance travelled, time car has been on and running, how hard you're driving the car, your climate, etc.
I wouldn't recommend ignoring the system that intelligently determines when you need service.

If you are this worried about your car I would also recommend never using the auto car washes. Too much potential damage to the wheels, paint, etc.

Ya, that is way early. I get about 11k KMs per change if I go right to 5% and we get slightly harsher winters than you in Toronto.
