Hey guys, newbie here. This 2018 CTR is the first time I own a vehicle with low profile racing tires. My previous vehicles were all big trucks.

That being said, I anticipate putting allot of miles on the car as my daily driver. Maybe 20k per year.
How often should I be getting the tires rotated? How do I know when its time to change them? Are you sticking with the same brand and size of tire that came from factory?

Thanks in advance.

Rotate every oil change. Wear is the same as any tire. Use a tread depth gauge and replace them when they are low. I'm not sure what tires you have, so I can't tell you how shallow low would be.

I am still on factory tires as I only have had the car for a week. I live in Miami and will be driving a ton (maybe 20k per year).

From what I have read on this forum, these continental tires are not going to last long and they are very expensive to buy again.

I will need to find some decent tires that will fit the 20 inch factory rims. Not looking for all weather since I live in Miami and also because I think those tires take away all the asthetics of the Type R.

Any suggestions for tire replacement?

Would you consider downsizing to 18 inch wheels? You get the benefits of a better ride, weight savings, and cheaper tires.

Otherwise if you want to stay with the stock 20s, I'd go with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. I'm running these tires on a set of aftermarket 18s and they are excellent:thumbsup:

Thanks. I will definetely consider those. I think I read about the Pilot Sport 4S tires on another thread where they were discussing tires for every day driving. I don’t think I will be downsizing to 18’s any time soon because it would hurt me to spend that money AND have less filled space in the wheel well which kills tha appearance a little (double wami).

I heard somewhere (believe it was on a video showing the CTR on a track with 18 inch wheels) that the CTR uses 20 inch wheels because it reduces torque steer. Not sure if this is true?

The largest factor affecting torque steer is the wheel offset/scrub radius. The wheel diameter has much less if any effect.
The closer you can stay to stock offset the better for reducing torque steer. The lower the offset you go from stock the more noticeable torque steer becomes.

Garbage? They aren’t garbage that’s for sure.... uneducated comment
They are absolutely a waste of money. I should not have wheel hop out of the factory. Then put good tires on and zero wheel hop. Uneducated? Only experience teaches.

Wheel hop is not because of the tire.....

edit.... let me rephrase.... the wheel hop is generated because of the extra power coming from the engine on a low profile tire. The engine creates the wheel hop because it cannot plant the power.

Beefier tires are more forgiving with wheel hop as there is more rubber to absorb the vibration. Install a RMM and it will eliminate wheel hop for you no matter the tire.
