Have a 2016 civic LX AC blows somewhat cool but not as cold as i would expect and it takes a little driving to get cold. should i take it in considering how the ac on these cars seem to have come from the factory or is this normal for this new refridgerant

Check your condenser if you see black spots on it which means it have a leak and going to die soon

You could always check out autozone and see if any of their ac products could help since its somewhat cool and probably just need a little boost in the ac system

I don’t think it’s normal. Mine started like that, at first it would struggle in hot weather, then it would struggle in warm weather, now it just blows out warm air. Maintenance minder is at 10%, so I’m taking it in for service this week. Will let you know what they find.

No black spots noted just looks like normal wear. I think autozone could do a pressure check?

Out of curiosity how long does it take yours to get cold?

R1234yf fittings are different. Most likely autozone will not have the correct freon either .Ac compressors are known to leak also. The worst one is a leaking evaporator.

If your "econ" button is "off", your aircon system should blow VERY cold air if the cabin is warm and the temperature is set low enough. Turn the fan up to high. If the air that comes out of the vents isn't VERY cold, you probably have a leaky aircon system. A "recharge" will only help it for a few months.

Bring it in. You need to put dye in your system to locate the leak (s). There are numerous parts that leak on these faulty systems (condensor, compressor, tubing, evaporator,...). If the dealer won't help, you are better off bringing it to a reputable automotive aircon specialist.

Car was taken in and got told they dont have the proper equipment to even check it. Scheduled to go in with another dealer this weekend to hopefully get it checked out

Main thing i noticed is idling and highway seems to be better but in town it really struggles. Been realatively cool the past few days

To be fair, in hot weather it generally does take a little bit or driving for the a/c to get cold. No A/C is instantly going to blast cold air when you turn it on. Works like that on all of my cars. But if it really does feel that it's not as cold as you'd like, then yeah that's a problem.
