Price is just 1 data point in a car deal. Dealerships will manipulate a deal to make it look like a good price/interest rate/etc but then make money off you another way: accessories, warranties, fees, holding interest, low-balling your trade-in

If you're trading in and you think you got a good price, they screwed you on your trade in.

Or they screwed you on your interest rate.

Or they snuck in extra high dealer fees.

Or they made you buy a lot of marked up accessories/warranties.

Or maybe you actually got a good deal.

For KHVT90, the math on that snap doesn't even add up. Where is the "actual cash value" coming from? Adding up those numbers doesn't yield the "actual cash value" claimed. And you bought 1.2k in accessories. What accessories did you get for that price? What fees did you end up paying on that deal?

I actually got mine for under 35k MSRP with none of the extra games. I might have squeezed out a couple of hundred extra bucks out of my trade-in but that wasn't worth fighting over on an interstate deal. They tried to make me buy perma plate for $1000 at the last min, but I stood my ground and they dropped it from the invoice. I found another dealer willing to do $500 off MSRP, but it was 2 hours farther and not in the color I really wanted.

The accessory was the resist all on the interior which they do for free on all of their vehicles which is why the actual cash value is what it is. No mark ups and no accessories. That’s the price.

The actual cash value is not the MSRP less the discount. Where'd that $370 go.

Anyways, I don't really care. Your car deal was your car deal, snapping a few lines on your car deal that don't add up to "prove" something isn't very informative. Congrats on the car.

I think the point is people are getting it at MSRP or close to MSRP +/-

When I negotiate car purchases, I always start with the price of the car... because that is the one thing that once they agree upon, they cannot change it otherwise it's considered un-ethical and against the law.

Then I add the add ons I want to get from the dealer etc... Then I negotiate the trade in price. They originally offered me 11500 for my 2015 Jeep Cherokee but one can say things like... Look I will buy the extended warranty what's the price... then get them to move up on the trade in price... I got them up to 13000 as my Cherokee only had 36k miles on it (for 4 years old)

Once you get everything agreed upon, they ethically cannot alter any agreed prices as it is against the law.

My last negotiating tactic is the APR. I alway balk at the monthly payment and tell them it's more than I want to spend each month and typically you can get the finance manager to wiggle .5 or 1% on the APR. I landed at 4% APR for my Type R and a payment I am happy with.

Before TTL my total purchase price was 42,136 and that includes the wheel warranty and extended warranty of 6 years 100k miles It also includes additional Honda parts as seen on the Honda website when you "build" your type R.

So if anyone does not want to believe me that's on them and I am ok with it. I will not feed the trolls. There's no reason to post what I paid for my car either lol...
