I've found one thing I don't like about my 2019 Civic Si. The airflow design of the rear end sucks dust and water onto the rear surfaces and leaves a mess. I haven't seen anything like this. Even on a bone dry road, the road dust is sufficient to make a mess of the rear surfaces. I'm gonna need to start carrying a bottle of waterless cleaner and several wiping cloths with me. It is ugly. Overall, I still love this car.

Here are my questions... Does anybody have a fix for this? Failing that, do you think a rear diffuser like the Aeroflow Dynamics V1 diffuser might cure this problem?

Definitely something I dislike about the design as well!

I've driven many different cars, I think the worst for this was my Golf R (I recall several complaints on the Vortex board). Sure, the rear end gets filthy especially in the wet, but overall - not the worst I've seen. Only complaint I have is how the backup camera gets obscured due to it. In the Golf, they hid it behind the VW badge on the hatch door which was kind of neat. The badge would flip to open the camera when reversing, then close it back up after.

That is an interesting solution, but doesn't address the root cause of the problem. I wish somebody had a farkle that would fix the airflow problem which is what's causing the mess on the back of my car. I guess I'm gonna have to try the diffuser and report back.

When it is just dust, I use a California Duster and then finish up with a quick detailer spray. Much easier and cheaper than a complete wash.

My FiST hatch was nasty in the rear end. Just about any car really that isn't shaped like a teardrop (prius) will have this to some extent.
