Hi CivicX.

I'm just about a month into ownership of a new civic HB and within a week noticed the right hand side rear bumper was sagging.

I brought it back to the dealership twice. The first time, they claimed to have looked at it. But I just saw them lift the car up and then put it down. Then told me it is normal.

The last time they claimed to have fixed it. Now I notice the paint is beginning to wear.

Is there anything I can do to get this rectified? I don't plan on going back to this dealership because of the BS and excuses they keep throwing at me.

Thanks for the read

If the panels are rubbing together, damaging the paint, then THAT itself is enough proof for the dealership to fix it.
There should be enough gap into between the panels to take into account expansion + compression, so this does not happen.
I would bring the car back to them, and SHOW them that the paint and body panel is now being compromised because of this.

Small update: Honda has not called me back. I've been calling corporate for the last week for a response and have barely gotten a hold of a human.

Is Honda customer service supposed to be this depressing?

Did you buy the car brand new? The car could have gotten into an accident and the dealer never told you about it.

Bought it at less than 20miles so if it was a shop collision, I'd be pretty upset.

Where are you located OP? Seems really odd that your dealership or Honda Corp. isn’t giving you an answer.

Go on their FB page and raise hell

Worked for me today after arguing with my dealer for 2 weeks about how my rotors being warped is bull shit. Long story short they covered the rotor machining under warranty only because Hondas head office here in Canada made them cover it.

Saved me $400.

(honda Canada agreed with my reasoning by the way).

*sigh* I need a facebook account now.
Do you want me to upload a high resolution picture of my Hatchback (also in WOP), and you can use that as supporting evidence / proof that what you have it NOT normal?
This is getting a little ridiculous.

You don't *need* Facebook; do you have any other social media accounts (e.g. Twitter) ?

I could absolutely use any reference photos! That would be very helpful.

Aside this forum and one or two others on non-related subjects. I'm mostly detached from social media. A lot of people are shocked at the idea, but I don't really feel the need. I still socialize and have continual contact among friends and family. It's not like I live under a rock inside a cave. ;)

Edit!:
I got a hold of Honda. It only took a month. /s. They stated that the slight droop or not sitting in alignment is normal on this model. I did however get her to state that the bumper is definitely not supposed to rub against the fender panel, causing paint to wear. The dealership made no mention of this problem in their report. I should get a second opinion from another dealership without mentioning the ongoing case.

For my troubles, Honda was generous enough to issue a $50 gift card, which will probably get eaten up in maintenance. I'm pretty dissatisfied, the response is less than stellar. But I bet if they had given me this answer even three weeks ago, I'd be OK with it and I wouldn't be out money from buying one of those paint pens.

Are they willing to repaint and re-align your bumper for free?

There is no way you should be painting for the repaint, etc.

$50 towards your next oil change? :p

Anyways, if you still need them, here are some photos of my WOP Hatchback, on sides of the rear +sorry for taking so long to take these!)
