I've noticed that when I touch the driver's door handle to unlock the vehicle, I can hear all the doors unlock but only the driver's door can be opened. All other doors are locked.

It's been driving me nuts, and the weirdest thing is, I drove up to the dealership to recreate the scenario, (lock the car, touch the driver's door handle, and try to open rear doors) and the damn thing unlocks. I tried it three times with the SA and it unlocked every single time. I even verified the car completely locked by leaving the fob on the desk and attempting to open each door. So after much eye rolling, I drove back home to show my wife, "hey babe! It's fixed! You can open the doors now!" And tried it in front of her and it didn't work.

At this point, I'm losing it and don't know what to do. Any ideas? Am I going crazy or is there something really small that I'm missing here?

drivers door handle only unlocks that door. passenger door handle unlocks all doors. I think you can change that in the setting if I recall correctly

No. It should unlock all the doors when you put your hand in the drivers door. Mine unlocks all the doors. Something is definitely wrong with your car. I haven’t even found a setting to change it so it only unlocks the drivers door. However if you unlock the car using the key fob only the drivers door unlocks. Until you hit the button again a second time.

That's not the behavior of any Honda or Toyota product with keyless entry I've ever seen. This is a security feature that only the drivers door unlocked when you out your hand on the drivers door.

There's a setting in the infotainment to select drivers door only or all doors for the door handle sensor. The single and double click of the key fob is correct for all the Hondas and Toyotas I've owned.

^This is the correct answer. Mine I changed in the infotainment center. I can’t believe the dealer didn’t know to tell him. Wow

Oh, come on -- of course we can all believe the Dealer didn't know :dunno:

^^^^Yep! when I picked mine up the dealer representative asked if I wanted to change the setting. However, the OP said it changes it's response and that could be a problem.

This is not correct. You can change the keyless entry action within one of the vehicle setting menus. The options are "Unlock driver door only" or "unlock all doors"

The settings menu has an option for it, however being paranoid I kept it to open "only driver door only". Just incase someone who shouldn't get in tries to get in.

Haha duhh. Shucks. Sorry, had a total blonde moment. And I was just playing with these settings a few weeks ago.

Yeah. What everyone else said. It’s a setting. I changed all out cars to only unlock the driver’s door for safety reasons. My daughter is in downtown Richmond parking garages a lot. I want her to be able to ONLY unlock her door in case someone tries to jump in with her. Granted, there is less of an issue seeing someone hiding on the other side of a Civic versus my wife’s Pilot. Still. Better safe than sorry for a little inconvenience of pushing a button once you open the door.
