Sigh....should have bought that NA Toyota Camry
Im still not worried about the integrity of the engine long term. Their are MILLIONS of 1.5Ts out there and many of them are up there close to or over 100k miles without issues. Will it last 250-300k? Idk only time will tell, it will make it to 200k with minimum issues though IMO. What I am worried about though is the weak ass AC, that will fail multiple times in the life of these cars.

Since 1995 I have owned 6 Toyotas (1 Corolla, 3 Camry's and 2 Siennas). Out of the 6 I have owned, only one, my 2013 Sienna had a recall, and it was for the Airbag and sliding door motor. My two brother-in-laws who own Hondas (an Accord and 2 Odyssey's) both had multiple recalls for defective automatic transmissions. Anyway, I hope you are right because I am in this for the long haul

Yeah Honda's old Automatics especially in their heavier cars(Odyssey, Pilot) where a nightmare, but their manuals have been flawless. My girlfriend has a 2014 Accord EX-L Automatic with about 60,000 miles with absolutely zero issues. I had a 2003 CRV for 6 years with 120,000miles before I sold it with no issues aside from a couple of AC compressor issues(go figure) and alternator issue which went bad around 110,000 miles, thats it. I will still always stand by Honda, they are still one of the best and most reliable out there.

I would agree with you-- the car from the Factory seems to be highly reliable (with only a few having issues).
But it seem as soon as he Dealer's Service department gets into the car, Q/C goes out the windows, and then the majority of issue start arising, and are seldom corrected in a long lasting satisfactory way.

Many of you all over the US and Canada have been receiving a Warranty extension advisory, but so far no one in California has received one. So I decided to call Honda of America, and here is the good news....our cars are not affected by this advisory or the oil dilution issue. Period. The issue is VIN specific and affects Honda's assembled in certain factories. So the good news is, the factories that assembled our Honda's for California did not fuck up.

So not only are we blessed with the best weather on earth, but we are blessed with cars that won't get trouble codes PO300, PO301, PO302, PO303, PO304 or PO172! Or make whirling noises when the AC is on and sound like a bus!!

Now excuse me, I need to find a canyon to carve...

Youre..... a.....real....MVP! This is one of the FEW times in almost 30 years of California.... im Thankful to be a Californian resident.

I never said that our cars were built in a "special factory", but what the Honda rep told me was that there are real issues with some cars and those cars are grouped in VIN(s). I'm not saying that our cars have no defects that may come out later, but at this point cars with our VIN numbers are not affected with the issues listed in the bulletin. I don't think Honda would intentionally leave one state out, especially California, the most sue happy lawyer filled state in the union
I quoted you but I was referring to what Honda told you and why I think it's a load of crock. Honda knows which VIN(s) were sent/sold to which regions and I bet that's how they're rolling out their updates. I would love to believe our cars are immune but it's not likely. Either way, we should be fine by sticking to an earlier oil change interval. Good work on checking with Honda and sharing your findings. That is much appreciated, thank you.

You could be right, California probably has more Civics than every other state and they may be figuring out how and when to do a roll out here. So far I have had zero issues with my car, except maybe mpg's have not been what they were earlier in the year. We will see by the end of the year

For California cars use sb 19-027. If you are having high oil levels than specified on dip stick or gas/fuel smell. 2016-18 1.5t

Read yellow highlights. None cold states use 19-027. If your oil level is higher than specifications . I would.bring it in to do it. 2019's dont have the update .

The thing is, I talked to Honda of America customer service twice, as well two Honda service departments near me and all are saying these updates are not applicable to me and are not available to us here. Also I can confirm oil dilution is not an issue for me when I sent my oil sample to a lab for analysis. With 7k on my last oil change it was moderate, but only because my mechanic collected it cold after starting it and moving it 10 feet to his rack. The lab said the level was not a concern, especially with 7k on it

Good to know you're not having dilution problems with your car. Just posting if anyone is having issues with it in california or any none listed states. We were doing the updates just on oil level too high and or fuel smell in oil

- No one in California has bought an out of state car?
- No one outside of California who bought a car in their state has moved into California?

Highly unlikely. I think you were given brand new wrong information.

This is specifically for cars with vin's bought in California. If a person bought out of state that would be a different story and has nothing to do with this post
