This is meant to be a trivia information piggy back riding on your comment, but Mercedes has switched to inline six engines starting this year.
Thats true, no idea why they started now though, makes no sense to me. at the time Toyota signed with BMW, they were still the only ones in the inline 6 business.

No im not annoyed. More annoyed that it doesnt have a manual than anything. It's established that the BMW engine inside is churning out way more power than toyota says it is, and it sounds great too. There is no other company out there making inline 6 engines right now anyway so it makes sense that Toyota went to BMW, nothing to complain about.
What's it a n54?

New supra uses the B58 engine. N54 was used in 07-13 gen bmw's. B58 is already widely used across the BMW lineup and has proven to be a really robust engine capable of good numbers.

Toyota makes good enough engines, but is not into sport car engines. I don't have anything great to say about current BMW engines. They work, but no overall greatness there.

So here is something to cheer up Honda owners annoyed by the BMW engine in a Toyota.
As far as engine reliability, here is an interesting article which says that the worst unreliable car engines are made by Audi and the most reliable champion is by far Honda (KO).

https://www.wesrch.com/write/5-car-manufacturers-with-the-most-reliable-unreliable-engines-45

So this girl says one of every 27 Audi engines fails, while only one in 344 Honda engines fails. Of the Germans only MB has reliable engines, the rest sucks. (I guess that's why Infinity Q50 offers a Mercedes 2.0T in it's lower trims, not a BMW). Toyota is number 2 with twice the failure frequency of Honda.

"Hmmm, starting a topic about the new Supra, where should it go... Hmmmmm... General automotive? Nah! Off topic chat? Nahhhhhhh, let's go with general 10th Gen CIVIC discussion."
