Hey,

As is, the stock shifter for the Type R is great, but shorter throws are always better

This past weekend, I installed the short throw shifter assembly from Boomba. Honestly, what a disappointment. I find 1st and 2nd gears to be sloppy (whereas stock shifter was crisper). The throws don't seem shorter and honestly feel longer (which I know that sounds nuts). I'm not new to these type of upgrades. I've installed short throw shifters on a hellcat and Audi TT, which definitely improved the shifting on both cars.

Sorry, just venting because I dropped nearly $200 and spent hours installing it

Any recommendations for a short shifter that actually works? I hate to disassemble the interior again, but willing to do it.

If Boomba is a sponsor, I wouldn't be surprised if my thread is removed.....

The R has a really nice shifter, I know a lot of people just upgrade their 10th gen assembly to the CTR one and call it a day. I wouldn't have bothered with a short throw adapter and just gone for the full Acuity adjustable shifter if you're looking for an upgrade.

I did the Acuity shifter bushing, and it's a lot tighter now...

I think if you want more of a shorter throw, you'll need to fork the money for Acuity.

I have buddy club and only purchased it to lower my shift knob, lol (had that red one that sat a bit higher).
I barely noticed a difference throw wise with buddy club, not much shorter at all, but works great like stock.

+1 for acuity short shifter here. You can adjust settings as you like for acuity to mimic stock shifter or make settings more aggressive. Overall, the shifting is very crisp and precise with acuity based on my experience.

if you don't mind the stiffer centering spring, the acuity shifter is a great choice. I've ran their shifter since the 9th gen SI days.

yes sir. I had a '15 but it wasn't insanely built like yours .. it was just a basic CT-E supercharged one. I do miss those days though.
I had the acuity shifter on it and i knew i had to get it the moment it was released for the 10th gen.

I put it back to stock when the CTR came out and traded it in. I do miss that car sometimes tbh.

Thanks for the responses. What's the best way to get in touch with Acuity? I sent them an email and a message via Facebook, no response. Do they have a phone number?

yeah it was a fun car when it first released....the 9th gen community since then has gone to shit...so much toxicity.

Any who, nice to see another previous 9th gen owner in a type R.

I have the Alta short throw shifter adapter. It bolts on to the bottom of the shift lever and reduces the throw. I like it, but I would not recommend it to anyone after dailying it for a few months. I also have the Battlecraft Hyper Teardrop shift knob, which increases the height of the lever. Installing both at once will basically cancel out each other and the shifter feels like stock. Kind of a bummer. If you have the bucks, the full Acuity assembly is the way to go IMO. I've tried it in friends R's and its really nice. It also has a cable support bracket so it's not adding unnecessary wear on the shifter cable like an adapter does. Its on my list of future upgrades.

In addition to what boosted said, you can try PMing them on the forums. They were super responsive and nice in answering my questions. @ACUITY

I ran the boomba shift LEVER in addition to all the Acuity Stage 2 mods for the CTR. It felt awesome and very friendly to use. I never used any of the short throw adapters that go on the transmission side.

I now have the full shifter setup, it’s amazing. The centering action is initially stiff but does “settle in” after a few miles. Getting a knob with more leverage would help if it bothers you. Or adjust the knob height for mechanical leverage. I personally like how tight everything feels. Their new (coming very soon) aluminum knobs pair nicely to the shifter.
PM me if you have any issues contacting Russ or his team.
