I've never had tinted windows but I do love the look of them; especially on the Type R. New Hampshire law allows for no tint next to, or in front of the driver & <35% behind the driver.

I have a PMM. Would it look weird to have the back half of the car darker than the front? What would you do (tint, no tint, and what %)?

- Windshield: Non-reflective tint of 35% VLT is allowed on the top 6 inches of the windshield.

- Front Side windows: No tint can be applied legally to this window.

- Back Side windows: Must allow more than 35% of light in.

- Rear Window: Must allow more than 35% of light in.

realistically if you want to follow the law, tint isn't worth it. 35% tint is gonna be darker than 35 when a cop measures it anyway, since the windows themselves block light a little bit.

Probably not so much an issue in NH, vs say Arizona, but the more UV and heat reflection you can get with your chosen brand of tint, the more you will appreciate the reduction of heat in the car, especially in strong sunshine.

The majority of the Cost of Tinting is the Labor, so it seems a false economy to skimp of the material, and not get the best UV & IR protection materials.

As for PUSHING the Optical tint past what your local state allows -- that is something you will have to consider and take responsibility for yourself.

Especially true if your A/C is failing already. (or when it does fail !!)

BTW. No limits on the Sunroof tint, so getting some good UV/IR tint there can make a big difference to the heat build up in the car when in direct overhead sunlight. You can go for the MAX there, full LIMO tint .. 5% !!!, but once again, the UV/IR blocking is a very important factor.

True. Yeah, I'm stickin' with the law on this one. Do you think it would look weird visually to have the rears tinted and the front stock?

LOOK AROUND YOU -- any car LEGALLY tinted in your state will be like this ... judge for yourself .. by looking at other cars... then YOU decide on what YOU want, and what looks good to you.

Most cars won't be legally tinted though... (at least around here that is what the case is.) Wisconsin only allows 50% in the front windows (which IMO isn't noticeable) 35% is the lightest that I notice as "being tinted".

20% is the stuff that most cars have around here, and is fine to me personally except on the side windows up front (too hard to see out if there's no external street lights, etc.)

I have 20% on the back 3 windows, 35 in front, and a 5% strip on the windshield <(strip is my favorite part)

Yea... I'd suddenly be "really sensitive to light" and need my windows tinted if I lived there... What a terrible law.

half is better than nothing.

Although it's technically illegal to have the front windows tinted, it's entirely up to the discretion of law enforcement. I've had 30% tint on all but the windshield for the past 3 years on two different cars with no problems.

Here in Jersey you arent allowed to tint the windshield nor the front but the back and rear can be any shade. I personally don't give a damn so i went with 5% on everything besides the windshield. I have a black Pearl CTR and boy does it look mean with 5%. And no, i havent had any troubles with cops or anything. As long as you arent doing anything stupid, you should be fine. The only downside to going so dark is that at night it's a real pain to park lol

theres ceramic tint that are almost clear but blocks as much heat as dark tint.

i tinted my windshield with llumar air blue 80 you cant really tell its tinted.
you can tint the back and use the light tint on the front windows so cops wont hassle you.

I'm not sure if it's asked above, but what would the purpose of the tints? Some like to hide stuff and not be easily seen while others get it to block UV to keep the interior of the car from not being too hot. If it's the latter, they have ceramic films that block UV while keeping it see through. They're a bit pricey though. Something to consider.
