I am going to vote that they won't total it. If that damage was from the front back with airbags deployed and engine damage, 100% positive they would, but here it would surprise me.

I'm guessing they'll total it with that high of an estimate and frame damage. If not, I'd look into claiming diminished value. Glad you're ok.

Damn! Hope you’re okay.

Happy R shopping! Unfortunate that the price just increased, but sure you could find a great deal.
If looking for a CTR, I would go the used market, the dealer markup plus raising the price is not worth it

I would not want that car back unless you can fix it for half and pocket the difference. Either way its never going to be the same and reselling it a pain.
I don't know about State Farm (that is probably the guy's insurance co that hit you), but my insurance Geico has a policy that if you take the car to one of their contracted repair facilities they will repair the car back to the condition it was pre-accident and guarantee those repairs for the life of the car and will only use OEM parts unless they are not available. If it was front end damage I would definitely want them to total the car, the current damage to the car can definitely be repaired, it's just a matter of will it cost them more to total the car or repair it. At this point I am betting the cost of repairing it would be the cost effective route in the eyes of the insurance company. This would also include the cost of putting you in a rental, how long it will be in the shop etc. I'm thinking from past experience they will repair it

GEICO is the other party's insurance and they told me its up to State Farm whether its totalled or not because I'm going g through mine. I'll be talking to them in a couple hours and I'm prepared to lawyer up if they tell me they're going to repair it being that there is frame damage. There's no way my wife and I are going to feel safe in a car thats been damaged that severely.

Got it. Yes once there is frame damage I would want the car totalled. You should probably go thru their insurance as you wont have to worry about deductibles, in past accidents I have had where someone hit me, the responsible parties insurance company took care of everything and I never had to even talk to my insurance co

Agreed. Get it totaled if you can. Complain about things that are not being accounted for. State Farm also has the same program with Guaranteed repairs if you choose one of their preferred body shops. If I can help let me know. I see this stuff all day long.

If the other driver was found to be at fault, the claim should be handled/paid out by geico right?
:dunno::hmm:
Why would you go thru your insurance?

In some cases the other party's insurance may be minimal policy and won't have enough to cover the damages. Would be best to use your own coverage and then have your insurance go after the other party in subrogation

Yeah true, but if they have full-coverage then you're ok.
If not, then your own insurance can be dicks about it and bang you by raising your rates DESPITE being found not at fault. They're all shady fucks regardless of who we use lol.

I have GAP insurance that will cover anything left on the loan after the insurance payment. ;)

GAP will also give me $1000 toward the new loan if I buy a new car.

hmm.. original estimate is $12K (plus maybe another 1-2K in hidden damage).. but a 2019 Si used resale value is still, what.. $21k? and you may need to hit a 75-80% threshold before "totalling".. could be close!

Yeah they want to repair it however GEICO is telling me some shady things when I inquired about diminished value. "Neither Geico nor State Farm will report anything on the accident to those agencies." I'm going to consult with a property damage lawyer before I allow any repairs on the car and find out 100% what my rights are and what should be happening as I don't trust either of the insurance companies.
