dealer mark-ups are not a thing of the past?
I can't speak for other states, but in FL, dealer mark up is running strong. My co-worker emailed Coggin DeLand about their Sonic Grey Pearl CTR yesterday. $44,500 price tag. That's the closest CTR to Jacksonville currently, over 100 miles away

Well if you don’t live in Cali is mostly MSRP. Days of markups are gone. Ohio and Midwest states have been MSRP all day everyday since day one.
Truth be told... even selling at MSRP is kind of bullshit. Most any car sells below MSRP. Dealerships are still making a killing when selling at MSRP. Good for them. Bad for us. :p

I used MSRP to my advantage actually. I know coming into this there was gonna be madness at release. I went to a back woods dealer 6 months before release and said I want to put a deposit down on a Type R they were we dont even know the deal yet on them... I said Ill put down 6k and buy it at MSRP no haggling if youll write it up now. They were like "really"? They ran and got the paper work since they weren't use to people agreeing to MSRP. Boy they hated the decision once the car came out. The day I got mine, June 19th 2017, there was 3 other guys in the dealer with blank checks one even offered 15k over to not sell it to me. (gotta remember this was release madness) dealer to their credit said sorry hes already got paper work. One guy sat there the whole time with a check waiting for anything on my deal not to go through.

Love this!! Everyone who had ever paid or charged ADM deserves for this to happen to them, scumbags ruining it for the rest of us.

Agreed. Although the car is no doubt awesome, its entire point is that it is a cheap(ish), livable, fun & practical fast car. Once they start pricing them $40K+, it's not cheap. It starts entering an entirely different ball game. Lightly used M2s aren't that far off.

They made FWD work, and priced it as FWD.
Agreed. But, supply/demand. If people are willing to pay that $40k+ price then that is what Honda will charge. When I saw the Type R I got on sale for MSRP, I jumped on it - didn't even test drive.

A dealership near my house originally had $5k ADM + $1k accessories added onto the price. They are a high volume dealer and sometimes get 2 a month. For the last 6 months or so they dropped it to $3k ADM + $1k accessories but my friend that's a salesman there told me they just raised it up to $6k ADM + $1k accessories when they realized they're still selling them within a week of delivery at $3k ADM so they wanted more.

Hey Thank you so much for posting the article I wrote. I did mean to come back into the forums to post it once it was published but I ended up getting too caught up at work. Please if anyone has any feedback I would happily appreciate it. I took several weeks to call dealerships, go through online listings, compile them, do the analysis on everything listed and go through the "Naughty List" thread on these forums as well. We even reached out to to Honda North America for a comment. Anyway, hope you liked it! I may be writing another Type R related story for MotorTrend soon.

Major states will still have ADM because of the supply and demand market. Usually states in the midwest, north, etc.. where there is little demand for CTR's, they sell for sticker because no one out there is interested in them. So the market for us is HOT in which the vehicles have ADM because people will pay that amount, some but not all.
