Hi all. I just read that Honda is raising MSRP by yet another $600.

Good news for the value of current owners! :D

Sad day for those still waiting.

2019 Honda Civic Type R Prices Are Increasing (Again)

Pricing for one of Honda's fiercest cars is going up. Again. According to a letter from the manufacturer, pricing for the 2019 Civic Type R is increasing by $610 effective today. The amount reflects a $600 increase in base price and $10 hike in destination charge. The car will now start at $37,230, up from $36,620. That's almost $2,500 more than what the car cost when it was first introduced.

Back in 2017, the Type R debuted with an MSRP of $34,775. That quickly changed with at least two price increases for 2018. Last November, Honda revealed 2019 Type R pricing would start at $36,595, $1,000 more than the previous year. In January, the automaker raised its destination charge on cars to $920, a $25 increase. That's quite a bit of movement over the years.

That said, our analysis finds that Type R pricing remains on par with what we're seeing from competitors. Even at $37,230, the car will continue to undercut the 2019 Subaru WRX STI ($37,480).

Even with the latest price increase, the Type R is still more affordable than vehicles like the 2019 Volkswagen Golf R ($41,290 with manual transmission) and the now-discontinued Ford Focus RS (previously just shy of $42,000). The Type R comes in a single trim, the Touring, equipped with a 306 hp turbocharged engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission in a front-wheel-drive configuration.

Unfortunately, the R won't be the only Honda subject to a price increase. MSRPs for other Civics, as well as the HR-V and CR-V are going up by $100. The automaker is also raising destination charges by $10 on all cars and $50 on its SUVS, the Odyssey, and Ridgeline. According to our records, this marks the second round of destination charge price hikes we've seen so far this year.

If they add lane assist and the other touring goodies that the European models get than that is a good deal. Guess we will have to wait and see.

This & the ADMs is seriously off-putting. A substantial element of this car being FWD is to keep it inexpensive. If the morons @ Subaru weren't still cranking out the STI with a 15+ year-old engine, I'd be strongly considering that instead.

But it is not manufactured in the US
ah misread i thought this was gonna be for the 2020. but if this is just for 2019 MY then lol...

lol with all these price bumps, the price I paid with some mandatory "packages" aka ADM is about the same... I'm just missing a volume knob and buttons :p

I laugh because I literally just bought my car a few months ago (for MSRP), and I was thinking about how I had ended up with the most expensive version of the car. LOL, I guess that I was wrong.

I completely agree. When I was on the hunt for a CTR I said the same thing. It looks like they're not changing anything for the 2020 STI either, boring

$600 is merely 1.6% and way less than inflation. It’s normal cost of goods sold increase due to fluctuations in supplier costs and whole host of other costs Honda as a mfger goes through. If people worry about $600 - which is no different than what most mfgers do every year - then they shouldn’t be buying it.

Do people honestly believe there’s no annual price increases on cars? Even cheapest Honda has 1.6% price increase.
