i just changed the wheel andtires on a new si coupe. found that the lug nuts are far from tight, IMO. took virtually no torque with good size breaker bar to take them off. seemed to be mostly drivers side, passenger side was maybe acceptable. tires were at 43 psi. nice they give us a lug wrench to check--not.

i bring it up because when i got the hatch in 2016 it was posted about 50+ psi inflation pressure, i had it as well as tons of others.

80lbs/ft isn't very much and is easy to remove with a breaker bar but that's what they should be set to.

let me put it this way i could a put a good 3/8 turn on the drivers side, passenger side would have needed for me to give its last torque check which would have resulted in the slightest amount of pressure to make me feel as they were tight. just sayin mine were barely beyond snug.

When I first purchased the car, all four tires were at 47-50psi!

My friend said that as long as they didn’t exceed the max pressure rating (I believe is around 80? Should be on the tire) it should be fine. I can confidently say that this is not true because my ride was super harsh and so I let it out to 33/32 and everything is great.

was not to worried about tire pressure, lug nutz is a different story. went months in the hatch before i found they were at 50+ psi.

I found the PDI forms in my glove box. My tires were at the right pressures and lugs were about right (I didn’t pull out the torque wrench). Sounds like you all got cars from dealers with crappy PDI techs

I checked everything possible myself, then my son threw the car up on a lift to check for himself

From my understanding, cars usually come with over inflated tires in order to prevent flat spotting

When the dealer delivers it to you. They should lower to recommended spec. Same boat as you, mine had like 50psi...I brought 2 civics over a 6/7 month period. And 1 dealer was fine, the other had the 50psi...not acceptable. Not like it’s a huge hassle to inflate/deflate.

Funny, I just checked my tire pressure for the first time the other day (got my car about5 weeks ago) and the psi was roughly 41 all the way around. Insanely high so I deflated them all to 32/33. I checked my gf's Ford Ecosport (roughly 8 months old) her tires were also low 40's. Also deflated. They must over fill on purpose.

They over fill to help avoid lot rot/flatspots on tires.

They will even over-inflate when car is in for service. Mine were pumped to low 40s on two visits. Either they’re stupid or the air gauge is garbage. That’s why I have the service guy type in no checking or inflating tires, along with no car wash
