I don’t usually use my ac unless its really hot outside. This past weekend was really hot in my area and used my ac. My ac blows warm air specially on driver side and a little cold on the passenger. My civic is due for an oil change and will bring this issue up.
This is exactly what happened to my Si. They needed to replace my condenser. Good luck, hopefully you are still on the manufacturers warranty.

But apparently your 10th does..... not that your 8th has anything to do with your 10th having a issue.....
I told you what is causing your A/C to be unbalanced & blowing hot.
What you do with that information is up to you ... it's not my problem -- my 10th is working well... (probably because I use the A/C at least once a week, just to make sure the seals keep lubricated.)

Logic is actually correct .. non use is ONE cause of A/C refrigerant loss.

Listen to what Scotty has to say about it ...

There are many other causes as well...
There seems to be a pattern developing that the condenser is failing ... probably because it is so flimsy, in cannot stand up to the stresses of use.

Dealers will say it is "Road damage" to avoid it being a warranty repair, but there seems to be a distinctive lack of Public Photographic evidence that there condensers are being damaged by road debris, and are not just failing and springing leaks under the stress of normal use,

If all these condensers were really being damaged by Road Debris, why isn't there even more reports of the Intercooler leaking, which, being in front of the condenser, should be taking the majority of the road debris, hitting the front of the car.

I am really looking forward, with great anticipation, to seeing my 1st picture of a Road Debris damaged condenser. !!!:confused1:

Just had to get my compressor replaced. Less than 2 years in. Hoping I don't have any issues after the warranty expires.

Yes, most Honda parts sellers are listing that A01 condenser as "Discontinued", but there does not seem to be a updated one available ie A02

It indicate that Honda has realized that the A01 version has problems and have withdrawn it.

So, let me give everyone a quick update on the A/C on my 2016 Civic with 37127 miles and 5 days out of warranty when they told me the compressor was bad.... Louise from Honda USA finally called me back after we played phone tag for almost two weeks.....he proceeds to tell me my story back to me.....I interrupt him and say....let me tell you my story.....I told him about being a Honda owner and how they have always been very reliable....I start to tell him about ownership with the Civic and being out of warranty only 5 days and 1K miles when the A/C works only part of the time.....he proceeds to talk over me while I am talking and tells me it doesn't matter if it is only 1 day and 1 mile out of warranty, Honda USA will not honor what has happened.....I proceeded to yell at him and remind him I am the customer and not to talk over me and for him to tell me 1 day or 1 mile tells me volumes of what Honda is up against.....I asked him if he talks to Honda owners all day long about A/C not working and that most are like me....irate.....he finally tells me yes, after prodding him....I said so what do you want to tell me? He proceeds to tell me how Honda is 'graciously' going to fix the issue for $500.00...his words....graciously....I again tell him of ownership with our old 02 CRV and how Honda USA paid for the A/C system when it was 10 years old and had 87K miles...doesn't matter is what he told me.....I told him I am a member of Civic X forum and I have read all about the lawsuits and other owners experiences.....He started yelling at this point and told me that forums are public and that anyone can give misinformation....I started LOLing....and said misinformation?!?....from people that own Civics of the same generation? ….he said, yes..... I then asked about the lawsuit that seems to be gaining a lot of members because people are in the same boat as me? ….silence.... I said look people's opinion and public perception is what Honda is fighting right now. Honda needs to ease owners and public perception and talk about how the new refrigerant is eating the insides of the compressors and contaminating the systems. I asked him, is the kit that you are going to put in my car the same exact system or an upgrade? He would not comment.... I said, so you are recommending extended warranties for everyone that buys a new Honda? He said, no comment.... I asked, what if don't buy another Honda based on this conversation? He then proceeded to tell me that all cars are made up of thousands of parts and that at any given time I will eventually have a problem...… I said, the answer you should be telling people is....an extended warranty would of cost roughly $1000? …..and that I have only spent $621.00....$500 for the "kit" and $121 for diagnostics to find out the compressor is not working.....he said nothing....I started laughing and said....Louise, all I want to know is there a guarantee on the parts you are going to install.....he said, yes, 12 moths or 12K miles...…………..I said, Louise, take my advice and lead with that on your next call....I told him...I am hanging up now Louise and I am not mad at all....he starts to say his little speech at the end...thank you for calling Honda USA and I can help you in the future....I said Louise, just say good bye.....that would be best....

I had come to terms with the issue last week, let them fix it with the what I can only hope is an upgraded kit to repair the problem....I am only out the $621...in the long run ….not too bad and probably cheaper than a long term warranty....and I now have 12 months to decide If I am going to keep the car....thoughts?

I have not had the runaround you or others have had but when I am at the 32 months of ownership point, I will be doing some serious thinking. I am not interested in several grand in repairs after the 3 year mark on a HONDA that I paid over $30 grand Canadian to get on the road to begin with.

But what sucks for ALL of us, regardless of brand is that this 1234yf crap is EVERYWHERE. You can't avoid it unless you buy a used car of an older vintage and preferably one that you also know doesn't have a known reputation for failed parts.

Yeah...
.....my son-in-law-to-be just got himself a 2016 Infinity Q50 Red Sport 400. It has 400 horses of power twin turbo, drives great with an adjustable suspension and steering, and is a luxury car, :headbang:so the passenger seat has 8-way adjustment and the driver seat has lumbar adjustment. And the seats are comfortable, so I recommend this car to those civic owners with sensitive back sides). And guess what, the AC is filled with the old trusty 134a !! Unbelievable, but I just checked the 2019 Q50 owner's manual and it still has 134a !!! :spaz:

But.........the CR fans will find the 2016 climate system reliability very red and rated at 1/5, whole car 2/5, owner satisfaction 1/5.... .. and it still doesn't have CarPlay or Android auto even in 2019? :hmm:

I would like those who threaten they will never buy another Honda, to pray tell, which car they are going to buy, otherwise they don't sound credible. Then I will count for them how much more they will need to pay and/or in how many ways that other car sucks.

I still think the 2016 Infinity Q50 Red Sport 400 is a fantastic vehicle.

What we need to do is get the word out, outside this forum. Let others know about this.
Scotty Kilmer has millions of subscribers. Yourcarangel, TFL,....

Honda clearly has a defective air conditioning system in 10th generation Civics. They know this, yet continue to deny it to save themselves money. Unless they believe that they are going to lose future customers, they will do nothing. If you have not had problems so far, it is just luck because the system clearly is defective. Sooner or later, this will affect you too.

I would go to either a Camry or Corolla sedan. And yes, I know the Camry would cost me a mint compared to the Civic.

Long before the A/C acted up I drove an Accord 2.0 sport.......now that we have a grandchild and a car seat in the back of the Civic....room is at a premium....I wonder how much more room there is in an Accord? Oh, I would get the extended warranty with it....hehe

More but not leagues more. The big win with the Accord is the width. If you want width and leg room, you need the CRV or larger. As a show of the interior size of the CRVs over time, the Gen3 CRV is nearly as big on legroom as the 2019 Accord. I think the latest gen Accords and CRVs are super close now but the one area that the Accord won't win on is headroom for the rear seats.

So the seating guide would be:

  • Civic Sedan rear seats great for two adults for short to medium drives. Three only if you have to. Car seat means a lot less width for passengers if you mount the seat in the middle.
  • Accord, fixes all issues except no gain on headroom for taller people.
  • CRV, everything fixed. But now you don't have a sporty car.

that sucks might want to see how much the extended warranty is if it's 900 or less it would be worth it. The a.c. compressor and all that is like 1500
I just got a 2016 civic touring certified preowned. They were charging 2600 for the extended warranty (10 year, 100k bumper to bumper). I dont know if thats the price in all cases, but the sales guy gave it to me for free when I asked what sorts of discounts they had and he asked if I was a veteran (which I am) when doing the finances. He just crossed out the price and said were throwing this in for you.
