Had it installed for about a week. While I haven’t really been able to drive too much, so far I notice zero difference. Friday I have to drive up to Mass for the weekend so we will see how it is when I get on the Taconic/Thruway/ and other highways, but I’m fairly unimpressed and will probably just take it off and sell it next week.
Thats kinds how I felt when I added the JB+ to my 228i.
I really noticed the difference when I removed the JB module. At first I thought it didn't add much, then after removing it I realized the power difference. When first installing a performance mod we're looking for a big noticeable difference, but its hard to meet expectations. If after a few weeks it still feels like nothing try removing and see if you notice the difference

Well if he data logs it will show the evidence that it is working correctly and all is good and adding boost etc.

My guess is that its working correctly. But seeing data logs isnt gonna make it feel different. In my experience I didnt fully notice the difference till I removed it for service

Don’t know about your old car. There ain’t no way on the type R or golf R that you would not feel the difference under acceleration. If it adds 4 psi you should feel it. Traction control will feel it too. I’m saying that as your jb4 would have included the Bluetooth connect kit you should be using it as that is how you change / edit the maps. It auto logs anyway when you go full throttle.

I agree he should feel the difference. He was probably expecting a more night and day difference(like an ECU flash tune), but the JB4's are more subtle than that. Thats why, to me, he was probably just expecting more and most likely it is working correctly. Maybe he just hasn't driven it enough like he mentioned

I totally agree a full custom tune is always going to be much better than a jb4. but 99% of vw tunes are apr tunes or revo they are just ots maps and are ridiculously overpriced. a ots map for my focus rs was $100 with 3 or 4 datalog adjustments. I think the jb4 is still a viable option if you dont want to jailbreak your ecu it's a decent power increase for 400 dollars with no warranty headaches. why would someone go Ktuner now when hondata have TC, antilag etc etc
You guys are cracking me up. Any Honda Regional Warranty Rep will be able to detect what the engine was doing during failure or DTC creation. Piggyback or flash, it does not matter. You CANNOT hide.

maybe they can see. But as far as I know nobody has had warranty work denied for a suspected piggyback. Flash well that’s different.

I also have a ‘17 Golf R and the JB4 on that was a very noticeable difference. Again, I haven’t really driven it that much since I installed it but we will see. I’ll run some logs on my drive this weekend.

DEALERSHIP here I come and I will ask how deep they can possibly dive. My car will be there next week and I am friends with the Master Tech and I am GREAT friends with the Service Manager. (pretty decent rapport with the GM)
I worked at a different Honda dealership and I was surprised to see what they could download compared to the Corvette techs I worked with at Chevy. There are proprietary soft codes.

Any update on this? Did you try switching between map 0 and 1 to see if you could feel a difference? Thinking about getting one, it made a big difference on my golf R.

Seems to have pulled pretty well on the highway. I feel like if I get on it in 2nd it does pull harder. Have to get a chance to do some logs but 4th of July weekend isn’t exactly conducive to this and flooring a bright red type r around North Adams, Massachusetts seems like a recipe for a bad day

Welcome to the Berkshires - would have loved to see a CTR in the wild but we stayed home for the weekend.
Hopefully the TSP was kinder to you than us recently - "70 in a 55" (was doing a solid 64) cost $193 in Taghkanic for 'Disobeying Traffic Control Device"!
Only "good thing" was no points or insurance surcharge YET!

I am just finishing up my School Building Leadership certification at MCLA so I’ve made the trip up the TSP a couple of times. I actually usually take the Thruway now because even though Waze says it’s longer, the clear sight lines allow me to not fear the unwanted police attention.

Logging is a nightmare. really you are going so fast if you are full throttle in third or fourth it’s literally like jail here I come.

I think the jb4 does what it's supposed to do and does it well. It was more noticeable in my MK6 Jetta but that was because of the smaller turbo. It felt great in city driving with tons of torque down low. On the highway it was a different story. No top end, would just fall flat above 5k. Now the CTR is the opposite. I felt a little more down low but almost wondered if I connected everything properly. Now a few days later merging onto the highway a completely different story. The car just pulls and never feels like it's running out of steam. The power is there.
I think that's because of the power band being in the mid to upper revs someone may feel it's not that noticeable. I just drove to work on the turnpike and I gotta say it's so ridiculously easy to hit triple digits. No down shifting, from 70mph in 6th gear it pulls nicely.
If you just want some more power without endless hours of tweaking or looking to break 1/4 mile records this is a great option. This isn't meant to compete with hondata or ktuner. Plug n play fun in 5 minutes, literally.
I also got a throttle controller. The car feels great in +R but the shitty Ohio roads have me in sport and comfort most if the time. Now I get +R throttle response in sport/comfort settings :D
Btw I'm only running map 1.
