Disclaimer: I have no problems or some kind of vendetta against non-R owners. I don't want to create a "us vs. them" mentality on this forum. However, there are some problems with them posting in Type R specific forums and threads:

1. the most obvious thing is that their car is fundamentally different in drivetrain, suspension (i.e. front), brakes, etc.
2. Other nuances specific to the Type R don't apply to Si, or Sport variants. Like opinions on OEM wheels, components, etc.
3. Information given in these posts can be confusing to new R owners. I've come across several posts where i think, wait, is he/she talking about a Type R? and then see in his flair that it's an Si or Sport.

If the information is not specific to their platform, it's completely fine. I.e. info about window tint, infotainment, etc.

Any thoughts?

I've noticed the FK8 section of this forum is definitely more built out with sub-forums. I think the Si and General forums should be built out as well with sub-forums. This would probably reduce the number of Non-R owners seeking help in the FK8 forum. The General forum has more users currently than the FK8 forum.

I have nothing but love to our X-Gen community. I try to guide them to post on their forum every time I see a post.

I would have thought the mods would/should move them to the right sections and include a little note to the op as to why it was moved.

it probably has a lot to do with how the new post function works. Probably not checking which section the post is in after they click that.

There's only so much you can do. This place is understaffed on moderators, so there are misplaced threads and posts all over the place. Same thing happens in the Si board. There are probably 3 of each "post your shift knob" and "what did you do to your Civic today" threads. People in general will miss out on cool, trim-agnostic mods that Si or R owners did (or vice versa) because Si or R owners think they have to stay in their containment boards instead of using the forum as intended.

I think it's kinda silly for the FK8 board to have its own sub-boards that are clones of the top-level ones. We could all be cohabiting the same engine/wheels/interior/issues/classified boards by simply using thread tags, but that's just another thing that doesn't get enforced.

It’s easy to get lost between sub forums especially in mobile platforms. No problem with non-R comments in R area; I just chuckle and move on. Ideally mods should move these comments but I also like the hands-off approach to Civicx. Some interesting and heated discussions as a result; keeps it alive and non-boring.

My opinion for what it's worth is let people post. Might be that they are not getting any good responses on their specific car type forum. In addition, seems like a lot of folks here came through other Honda cars before snagging a CTR so there is knowledge here for other than just the CTRs. Besides a lot of questions can be answered with general automobile knowledge and not necessarily model specific.

The only thing I see is that there are way more non Rs out there, and most of the postings are for selling things (that don’t fit the R). If your going to sell your wares the best place is where there are more eyes. In this case it’s going to be the correct forum.
