Trade it before it breaks
Uh, no I keep my cars for as long as they run. Hopefully like my Toyotas it will last for decades. When my son turns 18 or 19 and has shown he is responsible, I might give it to him, then I will buy a used Lexus IS 350 or used Camry XSE (V6)

"Having no car payment is awesome"
---I'm sure someone said it!

As of today, my Si is now paid off. It's officially mine. I was going to pay it off early in the next two years, but I decided to go ahead and pay it off earlier. The interest rate was only 1.79 percent, but I really hate car payments. I am now officially cash poor and car rich! Or is that cash poor and car poor...

Now to get that McLaren I always wanted. Or not
Congrats! Its a awesome feeling to not have any debt. Right now im trying to decide between a new Si that I can pay off in 2 years, or a 2 year old audi s3 that will take 5....i know which one i should buy lol

Iā€™m sure that is a great feeling. Especially, given you intend to keep it. Iā€™m curious as to how these new turbo engines will hold up long term.

Congrats. A friend of mine thought I was crazy when I paid off my 2014 Elantra coupe and traded it for the civic. I got a good deal on the trade in Elantra had 41,000 miles and very well maintained. The Elantra was a good car but boring and the handling and performance sucked. I know I have a EXT with a cvt but the civic is lightyears better than the Elantra . With double payments I got about two more years to pay it off
I bought my daughter a 2018 Elantra new and I have been more than impressed with it. I like the stereo much better than the Hondaā€™s as far as the screen itself and the overall responsiveness of it. Itā€™s WAY quieter than my Honda and rides like a Buick. It doesnā€™t handle like the Si but itā€™s not supposed to. The ā€˜18 is the newer generation than ā€˜14 though.

My cable monthly is almost as much as my car payment. I really hate house payment and day care bill
I got rid of my cable TV in 2011 and never looked back. Get a Nvidia shield, install Kodi and a VPN service. It will take some Googling and a little work, but you will have access to most shows and movies. Only install the Kodi recommend repo's and stay away from the illegal ones and you will wonder why you paid for cable

Dose the 18 have the twist beam suspension mine did. Going around corners was horrible that plus many other things with the Elantra made me buy the civic

Congrats Amirza, I hope more people pay their cars off early or just save their money for a few years and buy slightly used cars they really like for cash. My happiness level of not having car payments far outweighs my happiness level of driving an Si. Heck, if I couldn't afford to pay cash for an Si I'd almost be just as happy paying cash for a used, ugly green Nissan Versa Note SV lol!

I honestly have no idea. I tried to talk her into a new civic instead but she wasnā€™t having it. A little over a year later and she loves it. Iā€™ve only driven it a few times. Reminds of a baby Buick. She isnā€™t into curves or performance type stuff.

Obviously, paying off is a personal choice. Financially though, if you have anything less than 2% just keep your money in an online savings account and don't pay off.

I have a .9% 6 year loan from the dealership, though I'm not going to pay mine off early as I make much more off my HYSA's interest than the cost of the loan's interest.

When I got the car Honda was offering .9% and 1.9% plus $500 back for students.
