Last week I had my stock tires replaced with DWS's. The rims were covered in whatever grease they use to put the tire on so I didn't see any damage. Today after cleaning my rims I noticed they were severely scratched. I took it back to the shop and they agreed to pay for the repair. So I then went to the rim repair shop and they said they wouldn't repair them and to have the other shop replace them. Now I'm waiting on a call from the manager :banghead:.

Here's just 2 pictures of some of the damage..

Wow, looks like it's caused by metal to metal contact. Their machine probably lost the rubber piece. Honda released a bulletin on how to replace the tires on this car.

I have had similar on mine, take it to a better rim shop as there is no reason they can't be repaired.

IMO, That is actually a GREAT thing! YOU just WON the new wheel lottery and can get some amazingly expensive new ones for the cost of those.

If they do choose to replace the rims I'm going to find the nearest Honda dealership with the proper machine and ask they pay for it.

I honestly really like the stock rims and having just bought new tires I have no desire to change or size down lol. But, I will gladly take new stock rims.

Honestly, I do not foresee a new set of rims out of this. I could see the shop paying for a repair though. They’re in the business of making money, not losing it. You’d have to take them to court to get anything out of them beyond that, I’d bet. Remove tires, level the Paint, repaint the lip, remount the tires, call it a day.

I’d be right pissed. Especially since it was at no fault of your own. I sincerely hope you come out on top on this... I just don’t see it being an easy route.

Then buy a black paint marker and go to town, then pocket all of the money for a different mod.

Why would scuffed paint necessitate replacement of the wheels? Unless there's damage not shown in pictures it appears to me those wheels simply need to be refinished.

Because he paid for NEW wheels, not REPAIRED wheels on his car.

I had a big tire chain do the same to mine when i got a nail fixed. they didnt scratch the outer face like yours did, but they did chip/scratch the paint from inner edge like your second pic.

got it touched up no problem at a highly recommended rim repair and was reimbursed for the work.

Also, i doubt you will get new wheels out of the deal when the issue is simply cosmetic. Sucks but that's what it is.

While I don't disagree with you, If you get a scratch on your car, does the insurance company total it and give you a new one? Or do they repair it and tell you to be on your merry way? Why would this scenario be any different? The wheels aren't compromised in anyway and can be repaired.

Most likely these DSWs aren’t going to last cause one nasty winter pot hole and the rims are toast.

Here is what you do:

1. Get a quote from Honda dealer (prob like $2-3k I have no idea).
2. Send quote to Tire shop
3. Scare them a bit, but “work with them”. Ask for $1500.
4. Spend $30 and fix the wheels yourself
5. Buy new rims cause these 20s are going to bend - calling it

I recommend that you get some touch up paint and do a good job over it. Then wet sand and polish. Good enough prob can’t tell.

Then just buy some 18s cause these rims may not see you through the winter if you hit a winter pot hole.

I bought the car in December and made it through winter on stock tires. I already have touch up paint because I live in a city and can accept if I'm the person who causes the damage. But they did this. As for the DWS's I sized up to 245/35. Tomorrow is a holiday so hopefully I'll have an answer on Friday.

So tired of the fear mongering over these rim's. I've had the car longer then 99 percent of you since june 19th 2017. I have the OEM wheels on and live in an area where literally ever single road is under construction. Pot holes, man hole covers both raised and sunken in. Drive ways that you have to turn in at angles and at 2 miles an hour. Winter, salt, gravel roads..... and guess what. Not a single nick or dent or scratch. Most of you didnt even give the wheels a chance and had the off and sold in a week. Sure several people have bent wheels but so has any car. Ive only seen what 3 or 4 posts here in 2 years over actual bent rims? These things are tough.

But on topic, man sorry that happened but like others said i seriously doubt they are gonna replace them. Most likely fix them. But trust me im on your side you went in with new wheels you expect to leave with new not repaired wheels.

That is very well spoken! The stock wheels have proven to be VERY tough for me too.
However they SHOULD be at 29lbs. :)
