Okay, so there are a bunch of shifter mods for the Civic Si from Acuity. They all seem to have pretty great reviews. In what order are they the most noticeable though? What is the order of importance when trying to make the shifting experience just plain better and more enjoyable?

  1. Shifter Cable Bushing
  2. Shifter Centering Spring
  3. Shifter Rocker Upgrade
  4. Short Throw Adapter
  5. Shifter Base Bushing

Or, just plain getting the Fully Adjustable Performance Short Shifter?

Thoughts, opinions?

I have all of them (not the new adjustable one). I feel that the cable bushings may have more impact than the rest besides the short throw if you were to choose one. The rest have minimal changes in feeling when shifting. With all of them together it feels like what "sport mode" shifting should have felt like. If you want the best feeling, I'd say get the fully adjustable one.

I've never driven a car with their cable bushings but I'm really suspicious of how much a cable bushing does. The price is ridiculous for something that small imo. I've read very negative reviews on them because people said they didn't do much. That being said, there are people on here who say it's like night and day. If I were to go with acuity, I'd probably just buy the entire adjustable shifter kit.

I just installed the bushings this weekend.
I'm impressed.
It's a minimal cost compared to the whole assembly. My methodology was to buy the bushings first and see what it did before I jumped on the assembly.
It made enough positive change to the shifting that it put purchasing the assembly on the back burner for me.
I only have 1800 miles on my car so I imagine that with more miles, the feeling or perceived feeling would be even better.

I posted in another thread and I think the bushing kit is a waste of money. I think they're made well but its completely unnecessary especially for a new car. If your car is 10 years old.....mmmm...ok...I get it. But not for a new car. I can't tell the difference. I've heard claims you need to do more than just the bushing kit to make a difference but I won't be buying anything else. The car drives fine, shifts fine, I'm not beating the crap out of it so none of this really matters. The best analogy I can describe it as is when was the last time you went to a restaurant and you left thinking "wow, that silverware was incredible!" probably never, because it was fine and it did it's job. Would spending extra money make the food taste better or feel better? Highyly doubt it. Again, I'm not saying the products are crap, I just don't see the need for a bushing kit at this time on a new Si.

I dont have the cable bushings or the fully adjustable shifter, but I do have everything else including the Boomba short shifter, I can honestly say that the car should have came that way or at least close to it, the shifting experience is crisp and more sporty feeling. I will be getting the cable bushings and Boomba cable adapters this month and see how that feels.

In my Si I have done the type R shifter base, weighted shift knob, acuity rocker upgrade, acuity centering spring, acuity base bushings and Amsoil Syncromesh fluid. Worlds of difference from stock. Before doing the shift knob and trans fluid the acuity upgrades actually felt more clunky than stock for about two weeks. After that they became much smoother. Not sure why they would need to break in but that was my experience. Going to do the PRL SS clutch line, upgraded RMM and Acuity shifter bushings in the future in the hopes of making it that much better.
