One possibility might be to install the separate HVAC control from the (US) LX, you would just lose the buttons for the heated seats on that panel though. However, there are enough button blanks by the gear stick that you could theoretically have something wired in there (or elsewhere).

There's some pictures on this article that may help visualize that panel if you have never seen it:

Has anyone made any progress on 2016 LX radio replacements? I can't find anything. Just bought a new LX.

The stock HU is fine I think. Just add a EQ for the stocks, and an amped subwoofer in the back.

The EQ for the stocks might be tricky, but it could be done. They sound fairly good to me though.

Metra and iDataLink don't yet have a firmware module to integrate OEM HU functions into an aftermarket radio. But knowing how the factory HU is configured, it shouldn't take too long to crack. You can view the latest application charts below. They tend to be updated every week or two. And as one of the top selling cars globally, you can bet the 2016+ Civic is a top priority for them.

I installed a remote bass knob for my lc2i this weekend and mounted it in one of the blanks near the shifter. I also installed a remote toggle switch to turn the sub on and off.

Really happy with it so far, although it's a general pain to work on cars when you're tall...

Pictures to follow by next week :)

With the LX model , is it possible to buy a sub woofer and amp and hook it up to the stock head unit ? I can have a small knob next to my seat to control the bass...?

I think a lot of you are overlooking the fact the EX-T head unit is directly tied into the vehicle. You can control stuff on your instrument cluster, how your locks react, and much much more.

I don't think you can rip out that head unit and still have the car function properly.

The best way to upgrade our sound system is to FIRST install Dyno-mat (or a cheaper just as good product). I'm going to be doing this in the next few weeks I think. I recommend doing this first because the difference it can make is HUGE. Even factory speakers can completely come to life once you seal your car up.

If you're still not satisfied, I'd suggest replacing your OEM speakers with some quality speakers on OEM wiring.

Lastly, if you're still not happy. Get a Line-out Converter and wire in a 4/5/6 channel amplifier and run new larger gauge wiring to all your doors and install a sub if you got a 5/6 channel amp.

If you're still not happy with that........... ask a audio company if they want to sponsor you lol

So I have some of the 3m soundmat...

I bought it about 2 years ago...was cheap, don't ask :)
Do you think it would make any difference in the trunk if I put it in there? I know most of the area is covered, I just meant on the parts where metal is visible...stereo sounds fine to me, just thinking of using it up at this point

Unless you have a sub box in the trunk, I would say it's not gonna do anything back there. Your best bet to bring the speakers to life is to seal up the doors. Basically turning them into a large sealed speaker box.

If I had an LX I would put in an IPad mini. That's the big thing now.
