Hi there - I have never owned a car before and I am looking at the Civic Touring - In MD, do you think it is good to get a OTD price of 26500? What do you guys feel is a "reasonable cost"? I got this quote from a dealer for Touring:
Base $23,600

$835 Freight

$299 Dealer fee

$299 Tags

$1,418 Tax

$26,500 Total

Oooh Rockville. Near my neighborhood. What dealer did you get the quote from and how many have you contacted?

The price you got is good. Not the best but pretty good. I would try to shoot for at least 26k.

First time buying a new car (buying in cash). I was recently quoted 22,000 OTD for a EX (SoCal area). How do you manage to go lower as an inexperienced buyer?

That number is high, 20.5 to 21k is the pric for the EX sedan depend on the tax.
You should say no firmly and remind them that you know the prices and don't have time to waste, email and text few dealer and remember they all would take advantage of you if they sense you are naive.
Don't visit them unless you are close to the real price that just gave you.
Don't hesitate to walk away if you test drove the car and they didn't budge, take some one with you if you are the kind who gets nurves under pressure.

Good luck

Honda EX with Sensing no accessories. $21,600 OTD. Just signed. Hardin Honda in Anaheim. Ask for Kevin Gutierrez or Michael Harlin. No nonsense. Took me $2 hours. 2 minutes of negotiations in person. Highly recommend. Good luck!!!

If you get a chance, I'd appreciate it if you could share what your negotiated purchase price was, and what dealer fees were added on (to come up with the total vehicle price) and how much were the local/state taxes/fees. I assume the MSRP was $22,875. Thanks

Sure see photo. I asked initially otd price. Only dealt in terms of that. Didnt even pay attention to any other number. Did most thru phone and email. Said im not playing games. Meet my number or i will come back when the new models are out and you get more incentives and drop prices. The finance guy lied saying they wont drop lol. They reaponded via email $22,3xxx. I called and said I want closer to $21k. They said 21.8 then dropped to $21,700 then to final price in person. Hope this helps and thanks to everyone!!

holy crap. jmoneyy. I'm glad I saw your post before I almost decided to buy a car today.
I'm looking at the LXP and they quoted me 21.5k OTD. I asked for 20.5k OTD repeatedly and they wouldn't do it. Therefore, I left and searched online until I came across your post.
I do live in SoCal so Hardin Honda is def. in driving distance for me.

No problem man! Go today. They have a quota to meet by tomorrow or at least that what they're telling me. Lowest quote I received. Tell them that your friend Jon just bought a civic ex and sent you. Might help. Good luck! Only deal with michael or kevin. Other salesman sounded too slimy (i may be wrong) when i was listening the lobby. I would call now man. Did most work by phone. Just trying to help others save a buck!

Just got off the phone with Kevin and he knows that you've closed out a deal with him.
I'm going in tmrw 7pm hoping for 20.5-20.7k OTD for the LXP!
EDIT: nevermind. I could just PM you lol.

you should be able to do much better then 22k OTD. At least 21k-21.5k. Keep askingg around your LA area and some to see what the lowest price is. Memorial days sales are still going on.

If now wait until july 4th

Jesus. And I'm over here in Texas surrounded by crappy dealerships that do not want to budge below $21,900 OTD. At this rate, I'm going to have to wait until the new models come out. :(

First time poster and hopefully long time member here at CivicX.
I combed through this thread this entire month and set out a goal to get a 2016 EX-T Sedan for $22k or less OTD.
I'm located in central Indiana and found out that the cheapest Honda dealer in Indiana was willing to go down to $22k (Indy Honda)

However, I found out earlier last week that Performance Honda in Cincinnati was willing to sell the EX-T Sedan to me for $21,300 OTD.

I was a bit skeptical, but when I showed up they did not stray away from the price quoted to me via email. They were not pushy on any hidden addons or fees. At first they offered accessories, but I politely turned them all down. My only fault and I'm not sure if it is an Ohio thing, but they would not let me pre fill out any Credit forms so it would have already been done before I arrive to the dealer. The whole process took about 3 1/2 hours from the time I arrived to the time I left. Talked to the salesperson and finance employee and after it was all said and done, I was handed two keys, a manual to stick in the glovebox, temp tags, and copies of my paperwork. Luckily this dealer doesn't put any stickers/decals, or anything that would need to be removed via a heatgun or blow dryer.

I am currently military so I was able to get the $500 military down payment, and 0.9% for 60mo financing.

I'll post pics of my receipts if anybody needs.

Oh I got Aegean Blue too

Congratulations!! Really appreciate sharing the invoice/attachment. Did you go through truecar or costco? Where did you get it from? Is buying experience pretty smooth? or lot of haggling involved?
