I would kindly like to disagree with those who were upset with ctrmofo's post. I actually didn't see his post as "flexing" at all. What I got from it was that you should do your research and know what you want before you make a purchase. When he mentions his "1 of 20 GRP exhaust" in his post, I took it as him elaborating that it's exactly what he wanted and that he was able to acquire it within its limited run period. Because he knew what he was looking for. Also, his mention of his "fk8 product review group" further illustrates his point and it has very insightful product reviews when it comes to the numerous parts available for us CTR owners; and this helps us to make informed decisions so we can avoid making the costly mistakes that the OP is referring to.

In the end, everyone has their preferences. Some may say the NVH from the rear engine mount upgrade is too much but if you prefer the feedback you get from that upgrade and you're willing to deal with the NVH, disregard their opinion and go for the upgrade. Just know what you're getting yourself into. Most people will say their upgrade is "perfect" and I wouldn't discount that that's the way they really feel, people usually try to justify to themselves that their choice is the best choice but you need to make an informed decision for yourself so you don't end up with buyer's remorse. Even so, it will happen from time to time, it's best to take ownership for the decision and make the necessary changes so you will be happy with the outcome in the end.

Sixx...dealing in absolutes. Nowhere did I say that nobody else has experience, about exhausts, etc.

IP...The post wasn't directed at you as far as the money thing, but I will say that you assume way too much about people and "what they know". Can you show proof of your claim that he shits on products when people don't give him discounts? If not, that claim is hollow at best.

I'm done, this is a pointless conversation. The whole point of my post is that you shouldn't assume you know someone or their motivations for posting, but that clearly went over both of your heads. Deuces!
Glad to know you're done with this conversation. As I mentioned, it was beyond you anyways. Quit while you're ahead.

and if you want, I'll be more than happy to provide you details about those vendors. PM me if you want that info.

Haha, I've wanted to comment and actually wonder what Harlaquin does for a living. Every time I look at the forums there's a new post from him and it's an essay long. Good reads for sure!
I got lots free time. My background is in radiology. Radiation therapy , computed tomography and the like. But right now just enjoying life for a bit.

I've made some mistakes with mods in the past with my previous cars but that was all part of a learning process. With time I became more patient & started really thinking hard about justifying a purchase (and making a quality one rather an impulsive one). It helps to create a mental image of what you're trying to achieve with your car so you stay true to the theme. The random bizzaro collection of oddities sometimes we add to our cars end up being shit impulse purchases that we eventually regret. :D

You should know what a business model is. And if you’d like the real story of R&D discussions. I’m happy to share the context of those so-called vendors who either approach me to push their poor shit or I approach them to discuss R&D projects when we have user feedback we collect to help them improve themselves.

If you’d like to better understand how things work, perhaps put some effort into helping owners enhance their experience, provide real free education. You have no clue how much money we’ve spent acquiring products you haven’t even bought to test, throw away, or actually use.

Think you should quit personalizing things you don’t know much about. This is why users never learn the truth when products break, but we’ll be sure to post “Do Not Buy” warnings on those that break or don’t service their customers.

I think one key principle here is that mods will introduce a difference, but whether or not that difference is considered better or not, is completely subjective.

OP tried a thing and didn't like it. At least he tried. Most mods are reversible - they can create some financial loss but in a hobby, that's just the cost of doing business.

As far as the other topic raging in here goes - I will say that I've spent a great deal of time talking personally with ctrmofo. His delivery may not be to your liking but his contributions to the community - even if they somehow benefit him in one way or another - are inarguable. And privately, he's a good dude. We have to remember that a text-based forum exchange will never replace a human, one-to-one discussion. And so I would just ask everyone to remember that ultimately, we're all on the same team here. No one wins or loses based on what mods they have or what cars they've had or still have.

We're car enthusiasts and, presumably, adults. It's fine to disagree, that's what makes all this so interesting. But try to keep it professional and respectable in our discourse. We already, as R owners, have enough hatred thrown our way for shit we can't control anyway. This stuff, we can control it.

Besides a few cosmetics, wheels are my only mod for obvious reasons. Nothing else planned...Honda did a fantastic job designing this car which is why I cringe when I see the stuff people slap on this car. I know it’s subjective but this thread just proves how wasteful mods can be...
On a side note, ctrmofo has saved me a lot of time & money and even provided a few laughs over the last few years for which I’m thankful- I’ve learned a lot.

meh ignore it and move on with life.

I'm all in to have a conversation/debate with people on here but lifes too short to worry or complain about some dude flexing on a forum.

I bought my FK8 to use as a daily and to keep stock as it was a great car in stock form as I wanted to build a K20a EG as a weekend/track car.

After a couple months, I realised it needed some noise so I decided to fit an intake. (it was still a great daily at this point)

I had a look through Instagram and noticed how much better the FK8 looks with 18s; I then bought 18's. It looked silly on 18's on stock height so I bought some Eibach Sportline Springs.

Decided to take the FK8 out on track and it was impressive. I wanted it to be even better.

I bought a HKS Legamax, Intercooler, Decat, KTuner, Oil Cooler, Rad etc. (spread out over 3-4 months, not all at once)

Now the FK8 is a great weekend car and puts a massive smile on my face; but is noisy, hard, rough etc to drive as a daily. This is subjective of course.

I now have a daily that I can no longer daily drive lol.

My point: Social Media has ruined people, including me.

Nope never ever. I believe this only happens when one doesn't research the parts they're replacing with and/or when they cheapen out buying knock off or items that have none or little R&D. I have no complaints about my CE28N (18x10 wrapped in 255/40), acuity shifter, Mishi intake and IC. Next on the list is full exhaust system overhaul (FP/DP/exhaust) which is taking a lot of time to research which combo would work to my liking as I'm no longer fond of loud exhausts that serve no purpose.

Each part made the care much more enjoyable. And that's not to say the car wasn't already a fun car in stock form.

Still waiting to see scientific r&d and the business model behind the failing Chinese made steering wheels. I'll be here all day, waiting.

Sorry I couldn't hear you. It's pretty loud here at the track. What am i doing here? Oh you know.. just kicking it with some fellow CTR owners. Had a blast bonding with the guys racing out on track and then we had some conversations about some ctr related stuff. You came up a couple of times but I'm going to spare you the details as they weren't positive.

Had a P2R Exhuast for a while and loved it! Wanted something different and got a exhaust from AFE and love it! Got Ground Control coilovers and thought they’re ok. Got FortuneAuto 510’s and love them. What I like others might not, I’m nobody to push products on ppl. OP, like others have said “do the research” and make your purchases based on facts, not what one source says about a product(s).
