How many bought mods then felt it ruined the car?

i know what flexing is. you'll know when i do it. take what i write at face value, no more no less.

smh....statement of fact, not flex. i have no time or patience to explain things except post facts and move on. if bothers you, don't read and click ignore. life's too short.

getting off topic here from op. let's get back to it.
lmao. I'll know it when you flex? Did you just try to flex WHILE we were talking about flexing? haha. Holy crap.

yep, agreed.

huh? flex? it's called brutal honesty. i don't sugarcoat :dunno:
No. Itā€™s beyond brutal honestly. More along the lines of condescending jackass.

You remember proclaiming yourself as ā€œthe Ben Shapiro of car modsā€ when another poster was calling you on flexing a little while back? Cringeworthy.

After driving a few tuner cars Iā€™ve come to this approach, you either want a spirited daily or a ā€œracecarā€. Racecars aren't fun dailyā€™s. I look at modding as issues to improve the car. A lot of cars ā€œneedā€ improvements. The FK8 is great from the factory, and a lot of these mods just make the car less livable. Regardless of ā€œreviewsā€.

So Im not modding this car for the sake of modding or IG/car show awards. Im modding it to my preference. I want it to be comfortable, but still capable. Now exterior mods are all subjective lol.

Mods are a tricky business, unless you have seen/experienced them live on someone else car & know EXACTLY what you are getting, then it is a gamble. Iā€™ve done some mods on previous cars that I grew to dislike, most notably was a louder than expected exhaust and dropping on coil overs. Loud/obnoxious exhausts are a deal breaker for me now and dropping a car to the point where you have to start trimming fenders, adjusting camber, uneven tire wear, etc, etc is another no go for me now. I also donā€™t mess with the factory cat or anything that will jack up emissions.

I think some people are prone to exaggerating how great some mods are or how much they love it to justify the effort or investment of time/treasure/flesh. As some already stated, itā€™s very subjective & everyone's tastes are different, so take ā€œreviewsā€ for what they are; somebody elseā€™s opinion that may or may not be biased, based on their tastes. A lot of reviews that are over the top positive should be taken with a grain of salt. Look for the one or two folks that think itā€™s not the cats meow & take it as a warning. Unless you live in a place where you can see lots of different mods on the same car you have (I do not), it really ends up being a buyer beware situation. Do as much research as you can (or care to), put down your loot & hope for the best. It does really suck when you feel like you messed up a good thing or just donā€™t like the mod. You can always go back, but what a pain in the ass. Good luck with the exhaust issue.

Now, let me tell you how perfect MY mods are, why everyone else should do the same & how it makes my version of this car THE #1 coolest tittie buster best...

Most mods have not interested me. I like aftermarket exhausts on certain V8 cars and Subarus but have yet to hear any exhaust for a Type R I'd like. I think all I'd currently want, with what's now available, is an intercooler and a tune.
This is my upgrade path. Better charge cooling and tuning. Everything else on the car is right in the sweet spot for me.

you didn't do your homework well enough or enough research.

exhaust...that's why i have 1 of only 20 grp boost controlled valved full turbo back exhaust system ever made and sold by graham rahal. smooth like butter and barely more than stock at idle. once my right foot is floored and boost hits 12 psi (of 6psi to 16 psi settings), it's music to my ears.

this is why i founded the fk8 product reviews group, to get a dose of reality...things like proper wheel specs, no such thing as no drone exhaust, no such thing as no nvh with rear engine mounts, etc. we report it ;-)

not all mods are good mods ;-)
People say this with all the exhausts.

But when I have tried the last 4, they were all more db than ā€œlike stockā€.

As adults the older you get the worse your ears. I have two babies and in stock they sleep. Every other exhaust Iā€™ve tried ... crying fits.

I've made a few cosmetic only "mods" and I am happy with them. (Front garnish, small exterior and interior trim). But I'm a little nervous about my next mods I have planned, side mirror covers, painting the shark fin antenna and maybe the hood scoop. If I don't like the ones I planned to have painted, its a little difficult un-do them.

there are a few regrets which i have since then replaced.

1. eibach springs replaced with swift springs
2. greddy hg triple tip replaced with sequence manufacturing exhaust
3. injen intake replaced with afe intake.

lost decent amount of money on the greddy exhaust and injen intake.

Just asking because a friend of mine bough mods and has hated his car ever since and is now gonna take them off. Mostly it is the exhaust. I too am in the same boat IM not feeling this exhaust thing , it is ok now and then but really wish I could turn it off sometimes as it gets on my nerves. And not sure what the big deal with the rear engine mount is I got one cheap but after a month im taking the thing off. The car has no smoothness anymore and I honestly cant feel and difference with it other then now the car is rough to drive.

After mods it is like I am always driving around in a five finger death punch song its just grrrrr. There is no more nice quiet smooth R. Everyone was all needs exhaust and blah blah blah I got caught up in it and now I just kind wish I had my old stock R back, it was way more enjoyable to drive. And yes I know I can sell the parts and go back... just debating.
i seem to not agree with you a lot on stuff but i agree with you here. The greddy exhaust i had at times just made it not fun to drive. It really killed some of the fun part of it. The Sequence exhaust cured all of that thankfully.

same with the RMM. I didn't buy it for this car because I had a 62A on my 9th gen SI and although it's only really bad at idle, it bothered me enough with AC on that i didn't want to get it for the CTR. It definitely had improvements but i wasn't willing to sacrifice that minor comfort on a car driven on the street. If I was building a track car, i wouldn't have minded.

When I had my Evo X I definitely did some mods that ruined aspects of the car, so I completely understand what the OP is saying. I've tried to be more careful with this car, only doing mods that are proven to add performance without going overboard. If you do a mod that you truly don't like, don't be afraid to reverse it and take a small loss on it. Your happiness with the car should be the most important thing. Exhausts are very hit or miss on this car. It's just got that Honda sound, not like an Evo or STI. I would recommend my exhaust (valved Boost Logic full titanium cat-back) but it all comes down to personal preference. The car completely OEM is pretty close to perfect as is. That's why I've kept all of my OEM parts as I mod. Mod it how you want it, not how others want your car to be.

The only mods this car needs is a whoosh whoosh intake for sound, Hondata base map tune, better brake pads for track/spirited driving, and dumping those garbage 20" wheels. Perfect daily / weekend fun car after that.

GRP is right in my backyard (give or take 14 miles lol) but I just picked up my CTR last weekend so I missed the boat on that exhaust. Sounds legit! Pre-ordered the upcoming Ti setup from Remark. Guess we'll see...
I am also in the area...there is a small group of us here in Indianapolis. Graham has a really cool shop

Maybe not everyone has infinity dollars to spend on their cars like you, and buying an ultra rare and likely expensive exhaust isnā€™t very high on their priority list.

Sometimes mods just need to be experienced and someoneā€™s opinion- even multiple opinions donā€™t always reflect a personal opinion.

I bit my tongue really hard yesterday, trying not to say anything, but I see there are plenty of others who feel the same. You are being a pompous asshole on these boards (if your bolded text isn't a perfect example, I don't know what is). Your word isn't everything. Your opinion isn't everything. And you aren't exactly doing anything besides flexing. Settle the fuck down.

This was the same guy saying that if a steering wheel is made in China, it will crumble in your hands because everything out of China is apparently 100% garbage (nevermind that 80% if what is in our homes comes from China), and you MUST spend as much money as possible to ensure your steering wheel won't disintegrate. Because you know, people generally man handle the shit out of the wheel when in the driver's seat. Then he went on about his pricey wheel. Which isn't flexing.

Neither is listing 10 cars in his avatar. That isn't flexing either.

HEY EVERYONE I HAVE A LAMBO AND IM ON A CIVIC FORUM. Y'ALL BETTER KNOW I HAVE A LAMBO!!! HEY DID YOU SEE I HAVE A LAMBO?! WHY IS NO ONE PAYING ATTENTION TO ME?!

Thanks for your opinion. Now sit the fuck down and get back to topic. Isnā€™t my thread so move on.
