I've got a noise similar to this, but only when turning to the left. I had to take it into the dealer to repaint my rusty door and for the oil dilution recall, but it came from the front left wheel on mine and I was reading that it's likely one of the pins in the brake pad bracket getting loose and rubbing against the rotor. I would take it in, or if you have time take the offending wheel off and take a look.

Your brake pad(s) is close to the end of its life. They usually have a little metal clip that is perpendicular to the pad's surface, and is shorter than the thickness of the pad. when enough thickness got grind off over time, the clip would touch the rotor surface making this kind of grinding sound. Basically a warning mechanism. Just replace the brake pads.

If it's doing this when your foot is off the brake pedal; I'm suspecting that it's the rock in the rotor issue. There's a weather guard close to the rotor. Small pebbles and rocks can get in there and cause a metal grinding sound.

Don't listen to these goons on here, they don't know what on God's name they're saying lol.
You have to take this in, it is not normal. A worn out brake pad will make a high pitched squeal if and only if you step on the brake. I believe there is a TSB on this issue.

Goon here, well I just went by my experience. last time I heard the exact same noise (tapping or sometimes not even touching the brake) I ended up having my pads changed and was all good after that. I used to think it's supposed to be a much higher pitch too. Anyhow Perhaps i was too hasty in telling him to just change the brake pads. like Civicls says just bring it in then.

Actually these goons are making good suggestions. If its a grinding noise and not a squeak or squeal. I would lay money on brake dust shield contacting the rotor somehow (via rock or just not enough clearance) OR the pads are gone and its metal on metal depending on the mileage the car has......"goon"

I just had a rock stuck in mine this last weekend. I took off from a parking lot and heard a loud squeal. I immediately stopped, put it in reverse and backed up. Went forward and it was gone. I don’t think a 2018 is ready for a brake job.

Just here to leave positive feedback. This same noise started happening to me. My mechanic had already warned me that my pads were reaching their limit, so your reply only confirmed the inevitable for me, and calmed me down.
Thanks!

So I have the similar issue on mine, it is a 2020 Civic Ex Hatch happening on the passenger rear side only. I removed the wheel and saw my brake pads had a ton of life left as it is only owned since October of 2020. Depending on either switching brake pads to ceramic/better ones or getting this fixed like someone said with a pin loose. Any idea on how to fix it at home?
