Does Honda share repair histories between dealerships? Meaning a national database.

Or is it still separate per dealership?

I understand that recall work is but I’m talking about regular repairs.

I concur - at least this was not the case a few years ago.

I had my then 2006 Honda Pilot serviced at only two dealerships local to me and neither had any idea what the other had done. And one of them even archived some of my older repairs because when I went back to then for records when I was going to sell the car (I know, I should have kept them myself), they were not able to produce all of them.

I cant imagine them not sharing info. Enter vin.. perform service. Ever pull a Carfax report and it lists various services, state inspections, accident history etc? Its all through the vin. Its to Honda's advantage to track the data/car to ensure both maintenance and recall work is performed. Also, if they have a customer who is gaming their system by running around to different dealers to sneak in something.

They do share recall information. I have a feeling that’s the extent of it though.

I know they never used to I was wondering if that changed because it would be nice if they shared the information. When buying used.

My thought exactly. Then I’ve told no by a dealership. I was kind of like, “nice”

Warranty work is tracked because it is paid by Honda and has to go through their system. This is why recalls are tracked as they are paid for via the warranty system.
