Thanks Stevie.

Looks like it's settled with my case manager. They're offering 50% coverage out of the $1400, so I'm out $700 thanks to Honda "excellence". This will be my last Honda, unfortunately. Really don't know how they can sweep this under the rug for something as technologically basic as an A/C system.

I had it fixed under warranty at the end of my warranty and summer last year... winter came and went, and yesterday, the first warm day, I noticed that my AC is not working anymore.
Looks like there is a leak again on the condenser. The car is low millage for a 3 years and a half (about) car. Looks like Honda miss positioned the condenser or the design of the front cannot deflect any road debris. I have the Honda Civic EX 2016, and I am in Canada.

I'll go at the dealership and see what they can do... I am not paying for an actually unresolved problem.

Good luck. I had the exact same experience as you. "Fixed" it supposedly the first time under warranty with diagnosis of a "collapsed hose" and need to refill the refrigerant. 16 months later reported it out of warranty and got quoted $1400 to repair a leaking compressor. What a coincidence that two parts of the A/C system has to be fixed within that timeframe.

that's insane! did you end up paying? my AC is working but it does have some weird fluttering/chirping sound that seems to be RPM dependent. I leased the car for 3 years and there is no way I'm expecting to be paying for ANY AC issues.

Do you have the issue if you disable econ mode?
You don't have anything to worry about.. the car has a 3 year warranty and your lease is 3 years in length. If there is any issue it will be covered (beside a rock/stone damaged the condenser)

Actually my lease is 3 years and half. And I honestly intend to keep the car if there is no major issues by the end. That's why I am concerned, seems majority of people with AC issue are reporting around the 3 years mark. A work colleague of mine just told me last night that he got quoted $900 to fix the leaking condenser, his warranty just expired 3 months ago. I feel like honda is doing too much on cutting corners.

who knows, maybe in 3 years we get to see the 11th gen hatchback, maybe i'll trade it in for that :) provided my faith in honda hasn't fully depleted yet by then haha

I'm never on Econ mode lol. it saves like what, 2 mpg and $2 dollars over the average travel distance?

I have a 2017 Civic EX. 42,000 miles, so past my warranty. AC started making gurgling noises. Noticed with the weather getting warmer that it wasn’t blowing as cold. Eventually driver side vents started only blowing warm air. Took it to my Honda dealer who confirmed it was the condenser. Asked for a good will repair given al the issues I’ve read about and the dealer admitting they’ve seen a lot of those issues. They worked with Honda on my behalf. Honda ended up covering 70% of the cost.
Add my name to the NO A/C Club. 2017 Civic Si. Just as reported above, my AC was making gurgling sounds for a few weeks maybe. I noticed it but said the dealer will never hear it and the AC was still working fine. Come last week I noticed I had to keep lowering my temperature set point to stay cool. Then a day later it didn't matter what temperature I set it at it was just blowing hot air. Luckily I am at 31K so this should be a no brainer for warranty repair, but like other I am concerned that in another year or two it will fail again, out of warranty. Hope all goes well. Thanks for all the great info and research you guys have done.

Yeah I paid. Didn't have much of a choice since it's been heating up here. It's surprising how nauseous you can get in warm weather and no AC.

I have the AC problems for four times already. The first time they only refilled the freon, then they changed the condenser for two times, and they changed the compressor at my last visit in May 2019.
The AC only works for a month as I just found out the AC is not working again today.
I have contacted a lemon lawyer, and they think I can make a claim. But I am thinking whether I will get a better result by contacting Honda directly.
Do you guys have any experience on a lemon law claim on non-life threatening issues like this?

My gf got her a/c compressor and lines fixed last July 2018 it's now June 2018 and it's not getting cold again lol smh wtf?

I have a 2017 since new, hear the noises but still cold. If it dies I won't fix it. Not worth the hassle and money for 3 months out of the year.

I only had to go twice first time it was a crappy dealer that charged me 500 for freon the second time they replaced everything. I was too jaded by the experience that I put a mini fan for backup.

At least worked fine for a year.
