I do have Honda hack pro. I'll be home from work within the hour and will give it a go. Hope it'll go smoothly now that I have your detailed instructions. Will report back.

Update: Tune went smooth, but the bt/Hondata app worked 50% of the time. When it doesn’t, I get the repeated connection failed/retrying message. I got it to work and then did the tune, but now it’s failing to connect. Should I have done the tune first, then the app, or does it even matter? I uninstalled the app again and re-installed, but couldn’t get it to work until I cycled the ignition 4-5 times. It’s worked consistently for 2 drives now. We’ll see if it continues to..in any case, I owe you!
hu app and tune has nothing to do with each other. it's the bluetooth connection.

what else do you have connected to the hu via bt? it's the hu that's problematic actually and finnicky with bt connections.

it's a personal preference but the gauge display is not useless but very useful. for flex fuel, i simply see a % and that's all i need. all else i monitor ect and afr right there with no need to dig around for 2 numbers.

also, i data log a lot...by a lot i mean i have nearly 200 logs now to study and analyze real world back road runs with the gauge app as the real time monitor. for me it's not coolness factor but my "flight display" if you will ;-)
Well useless is a strong word I guess but my point was if he cant get it working its not worth killing yourself over. data logging can be done from anything not just the HU and other then if you need one specific gauge like in your case. you cant really look at the HU while driving and also while the apps up its not impossible but hard to navigate to anything else on the HU especially while driving. I guess i was just telling the guy dont kill yourself over it. Its neat and all but there is nothing there you cant do on the phone app or the flashpro itself.

Nothing else connected. I turned my phone’s bt off per your directions. It worked great on my commute to work this morning. I changed the tune while in the parking lot and now it’s back to not connecting again. I’ll cycle the ignition a few times and see if it gets sorted out. If all else fails, I’ll try to re-install.

agreed, that's what i meant and not much different in what i do i apply it afterwards. choppy with flex fuel but less so or none on regular 93 octane.

to be safe for new users, checking the fuel pump box is a good path using base tunes. once they start messing with it, then i can't say what's done or not done until i see the logs ;-)
Makes sense there isn't much with 93 cause the pressure drop probably isn't as harsh.

i do notice it having a hard time connecting after i reflash the car. It does end up connecting though and once it connects, it seems like a non issue.

Are you using hondata mobile 1.5.4.1 that is the latest. And my bluetooth never works right away after flashing a tune, just sits and tries to connect. What I do after I flash a tune is unhook the obd cable manually reboot the head unit and plug the obd cable back in when you hear the head unit beep after it starts up and should connect then.

Same here, every time i reflash i have problems and i still can’t figure out a pattern to get it to work after as it’s a different “fix” each time. It sometimes freezes when i plug in my flash pro to my laptop via usb

Yep, I'm using 1.5.4.1. I got it to work, but basically every time I change the tune I have to re-install app. Not a big deal I guess, but definitely not optimal. I'll try this next time I have issues. Thanks!

That’s really weird. I change tunes on a weekly basis almost and never have to do that. Mystery!

Oh hi. Wonder if 2019 has new BT protocol. Not sure.

so out of curiosity since some of you said after your tune flash your bt won't connect, i flashed 2 tunes i have in my primary and secondary slots on the fp...back to back so total of 4 flashes. after each flash i start the car and voila - same quick startup and connect into hondata mobile app on the head unit. nothing happened and just worked as usual.

i'm baffled. i really don't think tune has anything to do with bt protocol since they're unrelated.

@Hondata ? any thoughts on the odd disconnect and unable to connect via bt for hondata mobile app and fp for some of these guys?

I have sent hondata many logs from the app and have never received a response or an email back that anybody is reviewing. I just went through a period where NOTHING was working after a reflash. I eventually gave up and the next morning it connected on start up... I have honestly gotten so frustrated with troubleshooting this that i am considering purchasing a small windows tablet and using the manager via usb at all times and using the gauge displays here.

yeah i reflash the tune on a weekly basis and have issued connecting for like the first maybe 2 start ups or so. Usually just unplug the obd2, plug it back in launch app and it works.

Where can you get version hondata mobile 1.5.4.1?

I currently just installed 1.5 and it’s having connection issues, and crashes.

Same, but there are random times where mine will just fail to connect entirely, with no change in tune, or I'll get a message asking if it's ok if a device wants to connect via bluetooth. I'm using the latest Honda Hack Pro.
