Ok I'm still gettting a civic just don't know if I want a sedan or hatch leaning towards the sedan only due to the touring model of the sedan does not require prem fuel ( with it being almost 1.40 a liter if not more in canada) ....and with recent events it will have to be next year that I purchase one... with that being said, I noticed that the lower models have Intermittent wipers but the hight models don't. are the wipers on the higher models rain sensing? or did honda just be like F this and not put in intermittent in on them? and another thing is the Leather-trimmed seating surfaces is it real leather with cloth or is it that leatherette crap with cloth?

You can run the sport and Sport touring Hatchbacks on regular fuel. I know multiple people that have run theirs on 87 since day 1 / don't even know it recommends premium (lol). If you don't abuse it you'll be fine. I run 91 but I'm tuned and like to rip through gears.

As far as the wipers, yes the touring trims have rain sensing. They're very hit or miss, and there is no conventional intermittent wipers. Don't like them.

Get the Sedan and get the Touring.

Don’t let a few dollars make you compromise on the functionality and utility you need. The Civic is a very sporty and attractive car. Don’t let your wallet compromise it.

I, for one, say go Sport Touring Hatch! Utility when you need it, great car when you don't. If you can, go 6MT! (The 1.5T 6MT is tuned for more torque from the factory than the CVT model). Ours is a 2018 6MT - 43 000km so far - and after a few Lowes / Costco / Home Depot runs, it can't be beat IMHO.
When it comes to leather, only high-end luxury cars have full leather seats. For most everything else, it is, like in the Civic, only the seating surfaces (center of the seat cushion and back) and the headrest face that are leather, the rest is vinyl (I worked in seat factories in the past, including those that made MDX / Pilot / Ridgeline seats, and the one that used to make those of the Chrysler 300 / Dodge Magnum / Charger / Challenger).

P.S. My Sport Touring works perfectly with Regular gas. A bit less Power than with Premium, but still excellent.

I don't think that anyone answered about the rain sensing part, but on mine it seems so based on me noticing it running when I get near my house last night without me turning it on. I'll look again if it rains tonight.

mine is from Thailand plant though and they only have one trim of hatchback here.

In the big scheme of things, a little extra for gas shouldn't be a deal breaker. If your budget is that close, you should find a less expensive car to begin with. The car will run on lower octane gas, it simply won't unlock the cars full potential. (ie, its knock sensors will retard the timing and you won't get maximum hp)

That said, only you know if you value the practicality and looks of the hatchback over the sedan. I preferred the utility of the Hatch. The touring hatch was out of my budget. The sport hatch was nice, but I wanted the sunroof and nicer gauges (plus hp and suspension) of the Si which was also less than a hatch touring.

So another reason touring is overpriced useless trim haha
I would have just gotten the Sport hatchback but I wanted a manual gearbox and Honda Sensing so the only way to do that last year was the Sport Touring

Leather-trimmed means usually leather and fake leather not leather and cloth. There is no cloth except for carpeting in leather-trimmed civic trims.

Today apparently it is increasingly okay in the retail business (notably furniture) to call plastic "leather." Car makers are still avoiding the label "leather seats" when it's not all leather, but the couch/chair manufacturers are not as honest. Sometimes all-synthetic items which may look like leather only from far, far away, are called "leather".

The rain-sensing wipers work for me, but initially can be erratic. The windshield glass surface/wipers apparently need time to stop smearing water. So if it wasn't raining for some time, and you have a 5 minutes drive to work, it's likely that you will not be happy. But on a longer drive in the rain they start working as designed.
The system may be working better with new/higher quality wipers, but the civicx windshield glass surface seems to be difficult to keep clean.

One other little piece of information is that the sedan has more legroom in the back seat than the hatchback. Don’t know if that’s important to you but it was for me

Turbo engine.
18” alloy wheels.
Paddle shifters.
LED headlights.
Leather seats.
Heated rear seats.
Premium audio system.
Navigation.
Sunroof.
Auto-sensing wipers.
Sport sway bar.
LED side mirror turn signals.

Not everyone can afford the $8K upcharge. Fortunately I can.
