So we are all in the same predicament with the Si's crappy audio. Especially the bass. I don't really know a lot about car audio but I know enough to have a decent clue. With the type of music that I listen to (Metal, Hard Rock), the bass isn't a major issue. But when my nieces come in and play their rap, hip-hop, and top 40's stuff, the bass sounds awful. But I noticed that the majority of that awful sound comes from the door speakers. So I am thinking of replacing those. I can't replace all 10 speakers. First of all, it's too expensive, and second...it's a lease. But the audio needs to be addressed or the next three years will be silent. So what do you guys think the most important speakers are? Because I'll replace those, amplify them and live happily ever after????

Have a powered sub to handle the lows as a single speaker option and stop having you door speakers trying to handle mids and bass and just mids then they might not sound like crap. Trying to ask door speakers to be subwoofers is asking them to work just mediocre at best... and terrible at worst.

That's a 1 speaker solution that would be more affordable and an incremental step if you still don't like it. If you use the connections on the worthless 8" infinate baffle/open air sub that's on the deck to run as the input to the sub, you can still control it from your headunit.

What do you think about this? Put some really nice speakers in the door, that includes the tweeters too, a 10" sub in the trunk, and power it all with a 5 channel amp? Please remember, I'm a novice, so if that sounds ridiculous, please be gentle.

there's other threads on this, and has been beaten to death.
I don't mean to sound mean, but there's plenty of discussions hashing this out already going back to 2016.

The jist of those threads are most have found just upgrading the tweeters and getting a sub do wonders.
Speakers are:
2 front tweeters
2 front mids
2 rear mids and the tweeters are ran off of them
and sub

You'll probably need an active line out converter like an LC7i
https://www.audiocontrol.com/car-audio/factory-system-upgrade/lc7i/

that's the TL;DR for you...have fun

if you want just the tweeters (like I mentioned), here's that thread:
https://www.civicx.com/threads/touring-tweeter-upgrade.3297/

here's my thread on some Infinity components cuz I can:
https://www.civicx.com/threads/infinity-components.24913/
I haven't added an amp yet, and they sound pretty darn good with the stock amp

Do what I did. It’s 400 dollars and the systems sounds great.
I bought a kicker Q series 10” subwoofer. Do not confuse this w cvr or comp r or any other version.
Qbomb box 1.2 cubic ft. (Note was large recommended size for this sub)
And the alpine MRV-m500. This amp is a ridiculous bargain at 104dollars new on amazon. Every can not believe it’s only one ten and trust me it hits deep and clean.
All you need to do is tap the subwoofer wires to the high level input on the amp. No converters no crossovers.
Trust me I’ve had JL audio, image dynamics, alpine, Infinity, and plenty more.
You’ll be soo pleasantly surprised w this sub.
The nice thing is you’ll be able to use the original head unit to set your subwoofer volume.

I guess nobody was reading your post to closely. Like you I have a LEASE car. Not going to put 2 grand into the stereo! You are right on the mark by putting door speakers in first. Don't go out and dump a bunch of money into the stereo without giving the speakers time to break in. It's not going to sound good for about a month or so. In time the bass will improve a lot. Take care in the quality of your recordings to the USB stick. It makes a dramatic difference in the sound quality.

I have a Hatch Sport, I added JBL tweeters up front and a Cerwin Vega 10 inch under seat powered subwoofer. That combo definitely helped to improve the quality of my sound. I had ordered the tweeter housings from the higher trim levels and added the tweeters in the front door. The tweeters look stock and the subwoofer is hidden under the driver's seat.

No doubt the OEM tweeters are the weakest link in the factory speakers. They are really bad.

I would recommend just putting a sub or two in the trunk to give you the bass you’re missing. That way when you return the car you can take the subs out and put them in your new car easily. Then your door speakers will stop trying to produce bass that they can’t handle. And it really doesn’t matter how much you spend on your subs and amp, because you’ll be taking them out and putting them in your next car when you’re lease is up. I put two tens in mine

I don't know if the coupe is different as far as the sound goes or not, but I get plenty of bass. I listen to a lot of different stuff from 80's and classic rock to oldies and classical to Barry Manilow.
I find myself having to turn the bass down a bit sometimes.
One thing that makes a huge difference , at least in my civic, is having the neural function turned on. When its off, the sound is nowhere near as good and the bass response is lacking.
